Judges’ Panel Announcement Won’t Be Made Until Early October, According to a Source

US Magazine is reporting that final contracts are are currently being signed by Jennifer Lopez, Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler, with an official announcement expected in early October, before auditions begin for the new season.

According to Deadline Hollywood, Jennifer is signing a 12M dollar contract.

Wow. They are pushing this announcement out as far as they can, aren’t they? If this report is true, the producers probably want to announce the new panel and the judges’ round schedule at the same time.

Now that there are semi-famous people on the panel, I wonder how crazy scheduling is going to get. I hope Hollywood week is finished by the time the auditions begin airing in January.

That late schedule really screwed the audition episodes. The director had no idea which contestants to focus on, because the Top 24 was picked while the auditions were airing. The producers ended up stuffing a bunch of key auditions into the last “Best of the Rest” episode.

Also, the US source says that Jennifer was selected as replacement for Kara Dioguardi rather than Ellen Degeneres, as if it really makes any difference.

Randy Jackson has one more year on his contract, from what I understand. If he’s negotiating, it would be to extend the contract he already has, I believe.

  1. Seriously, can we just get this over with and get on with the show? I certainly hope all the hype will be worth it. (insert sarcasm)

  2. Tell ya what, tptb, wake me up when it’s January. Seriously now! SMH!

  3. I have to admit I was somewhat optimistic (cautiously) based on some of Nigel’s comments about this season but the way they are dragging this crap out is just so typical.

I do have one curiousity unanswered though….which one of the new judges will sit in Simon’s seat and have the last word or will they mix it up?

  4. It’s hard to care anymore by the time they make the expected announcements. I guess it’s too much to hope that they’ve got someone better hidden away to surprise us.

  5. OMFG! How insane this is getting! Guess what Idol?! No no one gives a shit anymore and you’ve likely lost more than half your fan base with your latest shenanigans! I guess Simon departing made them desperate to pull some kind of desperate PR stunt to keep peeps interested. Uh…can we say BACKFIRE!

  6. So, this is news? It will only be news if it is someone other than Steven and Jennifer.
