Original American Idol, Kelly Clarkson joined pop classics singer, Josh Groban on stage for his PBS special Stages to sing “All I Ask of You” from the Broadway show, Phantom of the Opera. Josh sings songs from his recently released Stages album, comprised of classic songs from Broadway musicals. Kelly was featured on the recording as well.
Lucky for us, we won’t have to wait until December, when the special is set to air on PBS television stations across the country. The network has uploaded this exquisite duet for fans to watch now.
“When we were making this record, and I was going to record this song, I knew this duet had to be recorded in a very, very special way, and had to be recorded with a very special singer,” explained Josh as he introduced Kelly.
“She’s one of the most versatile singers that I’ve ever heard,” the singer gushed. “She’s got one of the most beautiful voices that I’ve wanted to sing with for ages, and it is my great pleasure to introduce to the stage, my pal, the great Kelly Clarkson!”
“Heavens!” exclaimed Kelly as she took the stage, dressed in a sparkly black dress, “That was like the best intro!”
“You look so beautiful!” complimented Josh, before they hugged. “That was so nice,” Kelly said about his introduction. “I meant every word,” Josh replied.
Kelly explains that Phantom of the Opera is “the very first musical I ever saw live as a kid. I was mesmerized.” They both agreed that when they saw it for the first time, they imagined themselves in the lead roles.
