This is pretty cool! American Idol finalist Jeremiah Lloyd Harmon has a fan in Broadway star, Ben Platt. The singer/actor won a Tony for his starring role in Dear Evan Hansen and recently released an album of self-penned songs, Sing to Me Instead, on Atlantic Records.
Jeremiah, of course, is the gay preacher’s kid whose family did not accept his sexuality. Ben personally asked him to share the stage in San Francisco for a duet of Bob Dylan’s “Make You Feel My Love.” Jeremiah performed a beautiful version of the song for his Top 20 solo. But eventually, the singer was eliminated from the competition at the Top 6.
Before introducing Jeremiah, Ben shared that he watched his video performances and was “completely blown away.” Ben added, “…he’s just got the most incredible special gift.” He admitted that he “stalked him mercilessly until he would come sing with me!”
Ben posted a version of the performance on Twitter and wrote: “I had the honor of welcoming @jlloydharmon to the stage in SF. I have been waiting to sing with this man since I first heard his voice and I’m so grateful he obliged. #MakeYouFeelMyLove”
