Jennifer Lopez has been EVERYWHERE this week, promoting her new film, The Boy Next Door, starring herself and Ryan Guzman. The thriller revolves around a teenaged boy obsessed with his next door neighbor.
In a recent stop at Late Night with Seth Meyers, Jennifer claimed there were worse movies than Gigli, the 2003 romantic comedy starring her then-boyfriend, Ben Affleck. The ill-fated film became the poster child for every bad film ever.
“I’ve been doing this a long time now. There’s some that I go, wow, it was so amazing to be a part of that,’” Jlo said. “And some that you mention the name and I’m like, ‘What? Huh? Which movie? I’m sorry, I don’t remember that.”
Interesting topic of conversation, considering that The Boy Next Door only rates 17% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes. (Gigli only rated a 6%, in case you were wondering) The Wrap did a round-up of reviews, and they go something like this:
From the Las Vegas Weekly:
“What’s this poor lady to do? Make lots of ill-advised decisions, obviously, since she clearly has never seen ‘Fatal Attraction’ or one of its many imitators. Sadly, the makers of ‘The Boy Next Door’ have apparently seen all of those movies, and they put together a laughably ridiculous facsimile, with painfully obvious plot twists and moronic characters. ‘Boy’ is so terrible that it’s actually quite funny at times, thanks especially to Ryan Guzman’s intensely wooden performance as the title character (he acts primarily with his abs).”
Maybe it will become a camp classic?
In the clip, Jennifer reminisces about her days as a dancer, and how the hopefuls remind her of the old days. “I see people at the beginning of their careers the way I was…pounding the streets and going to auditions–buying pizza everyday…”
Watch the full clip below. And in other Jo news…TMZ is reporting that the dog owned by her ex-boyfriend, Casper Smart, escaped from Jennifer’s house and bit one of her neighbors, breaking her hand. Since then, the pooch has been quarantined at Casper’s nearby home. The authorities are still trying to determine if the dog is a danger to others.
