  1. On the outside, she is simply stunning. On the inside, she is beautiful.

I am so happy for her. This is who Fantasia could only hope to be.

  2. It always comes back to “Circle of Life” for me. That was when I fell in love with Jennifer. Too many divas that season. Turned out for the best, though!

  3. There hasn’t been a performance or acting gig of JHuds that I haven’t thoroughly enjoyed. She seems to have all her ducks in a row and seems, truly, to be an amazing person, an awesome singer, and an inspiring Actor.

I’m sure no one who watched Season 3 had any inclination of her potential but I bet there are lots of peeps who will say, in hindsight, that she should have won. Of all the idol contestants I think she was the one that really fell through the cracks and absolutely prove my thesis that voters aren’t always the best judges.

  4. voters aren’t always the best judges.

Judges aren’t always the best judges! (Simon).

  5. yeah Allison, Simon did give her a hard time during her AI run; turns out he was completely wrong and later admitted it after her “Dreamgirls” Oscar. I really love Jennifer, and I’m wishing her continued success in all of her endeavors. She’s the other one I’m looking forward to new music from (besides David C, of course). hee hee!!!!

  6. I never thought she’ll be this successful. I liked her, and I can’t forget “Circle of Life.” But many Idol contestants have moments in the show and are never heard from again. Good for her.

  7. Clive is picking the songs for Jennifer’s next album

    Oh, crap.

I’m sorry. They have a hot property in this woman, so why are they letting a semi-warmed-up corpse choose her music? Has he actually done that successfully for anyone any time during the past few years?

I don’t see why they don’t get a hot contemporary songpicker to do this. Do they just figure that her movie career will be enough to motivate people to buy her albums and nominate her for Grammys and such, without exerting themselves to give her a really great album with a contemporary feel? I don’t get why they would risk wasting her voice on what could be schlock, given what we’ve seen from Clive lately.

Because Clive Davis says hot contemporary songwriters aren’t writing songs for great voices on the radio anymore. I remember he said something similar before Jen’s 1st album came out and how he didn’t want Jen to waste her voice on stuff just because it was radio friendly. I’m not saying I agree with him, well I do agree with him but at the same time IMHO Clive Davis is NOT the guy who should be picking her songs.

Jen’s been working with a lot of contemporary songwriters and the early buzz was her album would be a lot more contemporary radio friendly. Then there was a gossip item in the NY Daily News a few months ago where it was rumored she was sent back to the drawing board because her new songs were too Rihanna/Eurodance and not enough her more soulful style. It was posted here by MJ: here’s the Daily News link.

That story was denied but it sounds a lot like what happened for her 1st album and with all the delays I think it was true.

What I keep telling myself is that we went through the same thing on Jen’s debut album and we still got Spotlight which was actually pretty good. The album could’ve been better but I still have hopes they’ll find a happy medium between showcasing Jen’s voice and finding contemporary songs.

  9. I don’t envy anyone who is under Clive’s control. I don’t think that he’s making the best decisions for the artists who he is guiding.

  10. I agree with Windmills, that a happy medium can be reached and offer a little bit of both a current sound with some 80’s contemporary. Jennifer has made some connections, and hopefully the right material will come her way. Diana was my favorite from Season 3, but all knew Jennifer had a powerful voice.

    Fantasia should be taking notes.

  11. Lucy,

You’re way off. Just in the last three years, Davis picked “Spotlight” for Jennifer, He Picked “Bleeding Love” and “Better In Time” for Leona Lewis. He picked “My Life Would Suck With Out You” and “All Ready Gone” for Kelly Clarkson and “Million Dollar Bill” for Whitney Houston.

He’s using his incredible leverage to bring to Jennifer the best contemporary songwriters right now. I heard from Azoff management people that Polow, Neyo, Alicia, R.Kelly are all involved. I keep track, and the biggest Jennifer fan and he’s still the hottest song picker in the world. Jennifer, girl, is so lucky. In Clive we all know she has the best.
