Christian pop artist Danny Gokey: ‘I was a late bloomer’ before going on ‘American Idol’ – I think — I think that’s a loaded question. I think we do a great job reaching people of faith. For myself, one of the things I want to do is reach people who don’t have our faith. We should break down walls. A lot of the time, the mind sets up a wall, but music can go beyond the wall and get into the heart. It has that ability. I’ve always wanted to transcend the barricades we all put up. This is quote-unquote this kind of music, and that is another kind. But really in general we all need that message of hope, we all love entertainment. I’ve always wanted to use music as a common ground. I still want to reach them even if they’re not Christian. There’s more that unites us than divides us. So I do think Christian artists do a good job inside their group, so to speak. I would love to see us relate more with those who’d never set foot in a church. They still need hope, a message that will inspire. – Read more at News-Leader
