Jennifer Hudson and Common FINALLY confirm they are dating on The Jennifer Hudson Show
Jennifer Hudson and Common finally confirmed their relationship on The Jennifer Hudson Show on Monday (Jan 22). The two have been spotted around town since 2022, but both have played coy about their relationship status. Until now!
To be honest, they are still being kind of coy about it. But they make it pretty obvious about what’s going on between them. After introducing the hip-hop star, he entered the stage with a bouquet of flowers. The American Idol alum got right down to business. She asked him if he were dating anyone DUH!
“I’m in a relationship that is with one of the most beautiful people I’ve met in life,” he admitted. “She’s smart, she loves God, she has something real down to earth about her. She’s talented.” He never names Jennifer outright, but makes it obvious whom he’s talking about. “Set my standard kind of high,” Common said, “Cause she had to have an EGOT. She had to win an Oscar on her first movie. I set my standard. She had to get her own talk show.”
Common is referring to Jennifer winning all four major awards, Emmy, Grammy, her Oscar for Dreamgirls and a Tony.
Then Common turned the tables on Jennifer. “What about you?” he asked. “I’m dating as well and I’m very happy. Are you happy in your relationship?” She turned that question right back around to Common. “Yes,” he answered. “This relationship is a happy place for me.” Jennifer gushed. “I love that you used the word happy place!”
“Seeing her happy actually makes me really happy”
Common added, “Seeing her happy actually makes me really happy. I’m very grateful, I thank God each and every day and I’m just letting God guide this relationship.” Common seemed way more comfortable sharing his feelings than Jennifer did. Maybe as the host, she felt like she needed to keep it together . “Here we like to respect people’s privacy. I’m not going to ask you many more questions.” She added matter of factly. “Everybody want to know…Miss Hudson had to get into that thang.”
But Common wasn’t finished. “We keep it private but I want to acknowledge how wonderful she is.” Jennifer finally said, “I feel that same way about my partner.” And that’s all you nosy busy-bodies are getting from Miss Hudson. Heh.
Common, whose real name is Lonnie Rashid Lynn, is a popular rapper and actor (John Wick: Chapter 2). He’s a dad to adult children. Both Common and Jennifer hail from the Southside of Chicago. Watch the clip below.
