  1. It won’t play for me…oh well. Is it a full lenght CD or just those 8 tracks?

  2. Depends on which version of the album you buy I believe. If you pre-ordered from his site or buy the Amazon Exclusive version than I believe you get 14 tracks. Not sure if iTunes will have it’s own “deluxe” version.

I think the hard copy version you buy in regular stores is just the 8 song version though. Which is what AOL seems to be streaming.

  3. Oh my! The wait is over (almost)!! Yay!!!! I absolutely love it. I still gravitate to “you can always come home”. Powerful. Love the “This Heart of Mine” too. And “Closer”. Well…I just love it all. It’s a great mix of songs. GREAT mix!!

  4. sbalk, if you read my above comment you can have more. Most digital retailers will be selling a 14 song version. Amazon already has it listed. Also you can get that version if your order through Jason’s website and I wouldn’t be surprised if there is also an iTunes version available. The only version that is 8 songs is if you want to buy the hard copy in a store.

  5. This is a solid album, but I’m not liking any of the new songs better than his cover of Hallelujah, so I’m not sure I’ll end up buying the album — maybe I’ll end up downloading a couple of the tracks. May have to listen to the whole thing again before making a decision.

  6. Surprised by there only being 8 songs, most of which were on the EP, but I’m still digging it. A great summer album for sure!

  7. I pre-ordered through Jason’s website, so I’m glad to read I may be getting more songs than are listed above. That also may explain why Sweet Medicine was on the early release EP, but not showing up here. The only 2 songs I don’t have of these is Closer and This Heart Of Mine. Hopefully, there will indeed be more on the pre-ordered mp3 down load editions. Love Jason’s voice, and his entire vibe. I wouldn’t choose to only listen to this type of music, but it’s nice to have variety. *smile* Fingers crossed that the album will do well. I would love to see Jason succeed.

  8. I liked the majority of them. I really liked Jason in that season and bought some of the Itunes downloads. I’ll probably pick it up and add the songs to my mix.

  9. During his season, I became a DC fan at Hello. I liked Jason but in my mind, David Cook saved the season. Last year, I made a double CD of all the best Idol songs (AI & Canadian Idol) sung live or in the Studio. I ended up with over 50 songs in all and I surprised myself to have Jason Castro as the idol who had the most songs(5)on my compilations. Imo, Jason is one of the best recording idols who’ve gone on the show.

Out of the 8 songs on this early release and for a first listen, I prefer “That’s What I’m Here For”, “Love Uncompromised”, “You Can Always Come Home” and “It Matters To Me”. “Closer” is good too but I’m more into the mellow stuff than Radio friendly upbeat ones. I think the version of “Hallelujah” is a bit too slow on this cd and I’ve heard him sing it better live or on his Studio version during his season. But for a first listen, I actually think it’s pretty good to like 4 songs right away. I’ll probably check the digital versions of his album since it’s mentionned that 14 songs will be available and I might just download individually if it’s cheaper.

ETA: Actually I like Hallelujah too listening to it again. When you think about it, it’s a good post-idol first Cd release, when you compare it to others who have done better on the show.

  10. I love it……however what is going to happen to all the other awesome songs Ive heard? I.e. wait, it’s alright with me, changing colors, tonight, someday…etc

are these songs just getting shelved forever? I hope fans that pre-ordered get them ..or put them on next cd? just release them!!!!

Just checked I-Tunes (Canadian site). They are selling (as of April 13) 2 versions. The one with 8 songs and the Deluxe version with 14 songs, and a video of Let’s Just Fall in Love + the Digital Booklet

  12. Ahhhhhhh! I didn’t realize that there was a standard CD and an “exclusive” longer length CD!!! I am a HUGE Jason fan and feel like I have been waiting forever for this CD to come out! I had plans to pick this up locally the day it came out (not to waste any time)! LOL
Kind of disappointed to see that online is the only way to get the full length version….oh well!
I also agree antonio—there are so many songs of his that I would love to have on CD—-but thinking we might not have that chance!

Does anyone know if Jason will be performing on Idol to promote his CD? I know a lot of times it is kept hush hush but artists usually perform the week their album comes out. I sure hope so. I have been kind of out of the loop here lately with new Jason news.

  13. I remember reading somwhere that Jason’s team was open to Idol performance but had not been approached as of yet. Next week would be perfect for him with his album coming out that week.

  14. I hope they give him the chance to perform. Wasn’t he supposed to perform at one point last year and never got the chance—they cancelled on him? That would be awesome exposure for him!

  15. Aww, Yay! I love Jason. I’m listening right now. Thanks, MJ!

The cover is kinda trippy. Ahem.

  16. You can get a 14-song hard copy cd from Amazon or at Jason’s tour stops. The deluxe on itunes also contains 14 songs. I listen to all genres of music and I find Jason to be a breath of fresh air!

  17. I really hope Jason makes an appearance this season. It would be great for him and I would love to see him again. I think many people would be surprised by how much Jason has grown as a performer.
    .

I agree. Jason’s voice recorded beautifully on all of his studio versions. The only thing that ever detracted from them was the unfortunate inclusion of back-up singers ( particularly on Somewhere Over the Rainbow ) and too much instrumentation on a few.
Jason is usually best when the accompaniment is sparse and thankfully, on most songs on the cd, that’s what you get.

  19. Lovely, just Lovely. HEY on another thread Mj posted that an ex Idol was performing and either the first or last name had an A in it, I didnt think of Jason then(bad me), she said David A but I would LOVE it to be Jason Castro?!

  20. Seems like I’ve been waiting forever for this. Haven’t listened yet though. I’ll wait to download and give it a listen on my home system. I always go into his new releases kind of holding my breath – I want him to do well, but am always a wee bit concerned that he won’t live up to my expectations. I can honestly say though that every post-Idol release has delivered the goods for me. I just love hearing his distinctive voice coming through my iPod again.

ETA: I’m not overly fond of the cover pic though. Oh well….

  21. It’s a very solid post Idol release. I like it a lot. Probably helps that he’s not with 19 ;-) Best release of his season to my ears.

  22. It’s a very solid post Idol release. I like it a lot. Probably helps that he’s not with 19 Best release of his season to my ears.

I think I still like Brooke’s better :). But, this is a contender. Very solid indeed.

  23. Brooke’s is good. I’ll have to keep listening. I just love Jason’s voice and the songs are solid. Not cheesy. :-)

  24. Pre-ordered it, will gift it, and will wear it out listening to it long before I’ll get tired of it. In fact, I don’t think this is one I will get tired of. I love it from beginning to end!

  25. i liked very much Jason on the show. His first album is a solid effort. “It does matters” s/b a single!! for me it’s the best song on the album and I’ll download it for sure if I don’t buy the whole thing

  26. I really like it. The first time I heard “You Can Always Come Home” it made me cry. Still does. Had to listen to it twice. Just achingly lovely. Will definitely be adding this to my collection.

  27. I like most of the songs – this is really a strong first album. My favorites are probably his Hallelujah, You Can Always Come Home, Closer, It Matters To Me, and That’s What I’m Here For.

This Hallelujah is beautiful but I think I may like his Amar A Morir movie soundtrack version just a bit better.

  28. I really like it! Wasn’t into him on Idol, but saw him live and became a convert.

  29. This is a guy I loved looking at on Idol. He is just beautiful.
Some of his songs were outstanding in their simplicity and irony.
    some NSM.
This album is really good and thanks for Hallelujah again! If he
wrote these, he is better than I thought back then!!!

  30. Loved the music…. worth the longggg wait.

What’s with the cover? Don’t drown in the pool. Just drown in his blue eyes?

  31. This CD is really wonderful. I’m so happy that he took the time to make a top quality album. He did indeed write a lot of the songs on the CD.

I love it, love it, love it!!! There are several songs that I think should do very well on the radio. I hope he is very successful.

  32. This is exactly what I hoped Jason would deliver. I can’t help but love it, especially “It Matters To Me”. I get why “Let’s Just Fall In Love Again” is included, but I think I’ll only play it when I feel like twirling and skipping.

  33. im happy heart of stone was left off the album…really disliked that song

Jason wrote/co-wrote 11 of the 14 songs. The only one’s he didn’t write were Let’s Just Fall In Love Again, You Can Always Come Home and, of course, Hallelujah.
For his first attempts, I think Jason did very well and will only get better as he matures and develops musically. But I’m more than happy and satisfied with album

  35. Hmmmm….maybe I’m in the minority here but I’m kinda’ (really) likin’ the album cover! *wink wink* More importantly, the songs are wonderful, and I’m really happy for him…it is well worth the wait. I have been a huge Jason fan from the start—I really hope he has much success with his career.
Now—–when is he going to be invited back on the show to perform? I really, really hope he gets that opportunity!

  36. The guy has great intimate lyrics and music writing talent….his songs stand up with the best songs out there today and in the past.

It matters to me, Love uncompromised….beautiful songs….other songs that didn’t make the album that he wrote were great too…..i.e. sweet medicine, it’s alright with me, tonight, someday….anything he writes usually turns out great.

His songs could go head to head with any and have a good showing.

  37. I agree w/ you completely Justantonio!

So, I see Adam is going to be on next week. So much for Jason performing the week of his album release.
Idol has had past contestants on this year, I give them credit for that——-but I feel like too much time is wasted on performers like Diddy and Kesha… nothing against them but I’d rather have that time put towards past contestants. They limit it to one past Idol performance at most each week it seems like—why not some weeks have 2 or 3 past contestants, and no “superstars”? I know I am getting off topic, but was really hoping Jason could be on to help “boost” his album. Hopefully people will give it a chance! I think even those people that didn’t care for him much on the show would find songs they like on this album….good stuff! I loved him on the show, but can even admit that he has only gotten better and better!

  38. Does anyone know if “It’s Alright With Me” is available to purchase anywhere? It is my absolute favorite, and was surprised and disappointed to see it is not on the album?

  39. it’s not available Dawn…I too wish his other songs become available..I want all of them.

He may still be part of Idol next week…from what ive seen they usually have two or three performers…so Adam Lambert then it could be Jason Castro…hopefully….if not oh well…Jason has been showing that he can make it on his own steam now.

  40. Ok, I’ll admit that some of it has to do with my own selfish reasons of just wanting to see him perform on that stage again! haha
    Season 7 nostalgia—LOL = )
I have no doubt he’ll make it on his own! He seems to be doing very good, and I am so happy to see that! Maybe one day he will release some of his other songs. I thought it was a given though that “It’s Alright With Me” would be on the album, as well as others you have listed Justantonio…
I’ve honestly never heard a song of his I didn’t like. He is so talented at writing extremely beautiful, catchy tunes… “It’s Alright With Me” just really stood out for some reason. But I am happy to see that “It Matters to Me” made the album. Yay!

  41. Don’t be jealous folks (kidding), but I’ve already got my deluxe cd. I had ordered it through Jason’s site and lo and behold it was delivered yesterday. Haven’t really gotten to delve it yet other than to star at the liner notes, but in reference to a few things that were mentioned:

Heart of Stone is on the deluxe version, not the regular version. Also since there was talk of writing credits, Jason also does not get a writing credit on All Wrapped Up, which also appears on the deluxe version. With the exception of the songs mentioned, he gets a co-writing credit on everything else.

  42. I really like the E.P. and so I’m not surprised that the album is really good. Good for Jason! Season 7 was great. So many “moments” and some nice careers being carved out beyond “The Davids.”
