American Idol Season 10 Alum James Durbin Kicks Off PledgeMusic Drive

Just because James Durbin has been front man for Quiet Riot this past year means he’s setting his solo career aside. The American Idol season 10 singer kicked off his PledgeMusic drive today.

I am beyond excited to announce the Official Pre Order for my upcoming 4th album to be released on Friday October 19th! The music and lyrics that are contained in these songs are some of my most intimate and vulnerable moments recorded at my Home Studio in Nashville, TN & released via our own Independent Record Label ‘Wild Vine Records’. I’m thrilled for the opportunity to share these songs with you through this Pledge Music Pre Order campaign!

Check out the perks available when you pre-order the album HERE.

How does the former American Idol singer get ready to play Charlie Price? – David Cook first made his Broadway debut taking over the role of Charlie Price in Kinky Boots back in April of this year. After a brief hiatus, the winner of American Idol Season 7 has returned to the Land of Lola. Back at the eight-show week, Cook says his walk to the theatre is “really just creating a mental road map of how I want to attack that particular show.” The rocker takes us backstage at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre to walk us through his pre-show ritual, including the process of covering his tattoos, vocal warmups, and more. – Watch the Video at Playbill

  1. As much as I like full-band music, nothing would keep me away from owning more of James music/creations accompanied by him playing guitar. There are days when slow-downed, beautiful ballads from him are played one after the other by me, so I’ll hope he adds to that playlist. His songs May, The Road, Sundays are Gone, renditions of WYStill Love Me Tomorrow, Without You, WhMyGuitarGentlyW, QR’s Thunderbird, his 5 Christmas songs EP, etc. are some of the other sides of his gorgeous voice vs. the wild & fun rocker types–also much appreciated by many, & I look forward to getting this of course. The song he gave a sample listen-to from the new album on StageIt was not a ballad but it seems like there will be a variety of song types. This is just me hoping a few ballads are included in whatever he put together. He makes them all interesting imo.

  2. Like I posted in yesterday’s thread, acoustic isn’t my preferred music style either, but I did really like that preview of “Gypsy” James sang in his last StageIt show.

And even though this is going to be acoustic, the themes I have a feeling will be varied. I just checked James’s ASCAP page and a lot of new titles have been added recently ranging from “She Looks At Me” (ballad?) to heavier thematic ones like “Resist”, “Nowhere Land”, “Touch of Evil” and “Visions of War”.

At least this is a rather short pre-order this time, with the album coming out in 2 and a half months, so we don’t have to wait too long.

  3. I saw the article in a different thread — I think a headline thread, but I could be wrong.

UPDATE: It was in yesterday’s headline thread. And generated controversy. So it is nice to read something as simple as “nice comments from Kris.”

  4. Really enjoyed the look BTS at The Hirschfeld Theater – And David C ought to stay in shape for that conveyor belt number that closes Act 1 every performance, with all those stairs and corridors to navigate just to get to the dressing room!

Also enjoyed another look at the hashmarks on the wall that represent a record of every Charlie who has played the part since Stark Sands on opening night, with memorable moments noted for each one. The last time we saw it was back in April…now David is already in the third week of his second run, with five to go. Interesting to think how many new people will have seen him perform by the end of this run in September!

The Cookistas have some clips from that video – they have such nice skills…ck out the picture on the old Headlines thread…very nice. Meanwhile, here’s the new one… imagine those R’s in Irresistible very, very rolled! Heh.

Via the cookistas: “Welcome to the future. No longer are we making shoes. We are making two and a half feet of irresistible tubular sex!” ~ Charlie Price, @Kinkybootsbway .

  5. Awwww, TY! My concert looks like it will be sold out or very close. The capacity of the Thousand Oaks Theater is 1800. But I keep getting “deals” for their LA concert at the Orpheum on Saturday night. Orch, for $33 only. Chekced the seating and still a lot left. Interestingly, The Orpheum is just slightly larger at 1900 capacity. probably just too many choices in Los Angeles.
