Jai McDowall Wins Britain’s Got Talent, Ronan Parke Runner-UP

For those of you who have been paying attention (I haven’t, really) Scottish singer, Jai McDowell won Britain’s Got Talent tonight, beating the favorite “British Bieber” Ronan Parke by a slim margin (2.5 percentage points).

You may have seen Ronan’s name bandied about in the press this week.  The twelve year old contestant was at the center of a swirl of rumors that he’d been groomed by BGT creator, Simon Cowell before auditioning for the show. Ronan & Simon both vehemently deny the rumors, which were started by some random blog post, supposedly written by an ex-executive who worked with Simon. Eh.

A visibly  shaken  Jai said of his win, “It’s a total dream come true.”  He beat out 9 other acts for the crown.

Performers at the BGT final tonight included America’s Got Talent runner-up, Jackie Evancho , who reportedly wowed the crowd with her performance of “Nessun Dorma.” I find the adult vocal coming out of that tiny body a little creepy, but maybe that’s just me. You can watch her perform HERE.

Also, Glee’s Matthew Morrison sang his new single, the Kris Allen co-write, “Still Got Tonight”.
