Injured DWTS Dancer Mark Ballas May Not Perform Tonight

According to People magazine sources, pro-dance Mark Ballas may not be able to compete on Monday’s episode of Dancing with the Stars.

“He injured his back at camera blocking rehearsal on Sunday,” a source told People. “It’s an old injury that he aggravated. It’s up in the air if he’ll be able to perform tonight.”

It’s the second injury in just two weeks of the season 22 competition. Deaf model Nyle DiMarco had to get stitches after an accident during the first week of rehearsal with his pro-partner, Peta Murgatroyd.

Mark’s fate in the competition will be decided by a doctor later today. In the meantime, while the medical team considers whether Mark can dance, his star partner, UFC fighter Paige VanZant, is rehearsing with Alan Bersten, a former So You Think You Can Dance contestant and current member of the DWTS dance troupe.

As these things usually go, Mark’s fate won’t be announced until the dancers hit the stage, live, tonight. Join Franky as he live blogs DWTS beginning at 8 ET. Click for this week’s songs and dance styles.
