On the concert front, Bea Miller from X-Factor USA continues to open for Selena Gomez and DNCE (lead singer Joe Jonas). They were in Orlando and New Orleans in June. Meanwhile, Adam Lambert and Melanie Martinez performed at the House of Blues in Boston – but not on the same night or even the same month (HoB reported a lot of concerts this week). Both were near sell-outs. Adam is from American Idol (Season 8) and Melanie from The Voice (Team Adam).
HDD posted a YTD chart for the best selling albums (ranked by SPS) of the first half of 2016. Zayn made the list at 21st with “Mind of Mine” having 372K SPS, 280K in sales and 132K SEAs. 35% of his total is based on SEAs
BB has the Red Hot Chili Peppers threatening to dethrone Drake at the top of the album chart. Both are predicted to SPS into the 110-120 range. The last album the RHCP released was in 2011 and it sold 228K. They previously reached the top of the chart with “Stadium Arcadium” (2006). Drake isn’t ready to cede the top of the chart and his album is being offered at the sale price of $6.99 at major digital retailers.
