X-Factor’s Little Mix was mixing it up at the Key 103 Christmas concert in Manchester. Meanwhile, Colton Dixon was opening for Christian music’s top draw, tobymac. They were in Madison Square Garden in November and Las Vegas a few weeks ago.

For those who like numbers, check out the numbers associated with the Sony/ATV catalog. Michael Jackson was wise to follow his friend Paul McCartney’s advice about the value of music publishing (even if in doing so, he lost that friend). MJ purchased the ATV catalog (Lennon/McCartney, Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Presley, Cher, Hank Williams, Little Richard, Rolling Stones) for just $47.5M back in 1985 (only having to put up $11M of his own money). Ten years later, he sold a 50% share to Sony for $110M. The catalog would continue to grow through acquisitions and signing of new artists such as Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran and Lady Gaga. Since 1995, MJ and his estate have received $450M in dividends and just sold their half of the catalog for $750M. I wish all my investments were that successful. The estate still has $250M in debt, so this will leave them with $500M (up $1B since MJ died $500M in debt).
