Idol Sales News – Week Ending 09/21/14

The big news on the sales front this week is Babara Streisand becoming the first artist to chart number 1 albums in 6 consecutive decades. “Partners” sold 196K this week making it her 10th top album. That ups her lead as most number one albums from a female artists and ties her at third with Bruce Springsteen and Elvis Presley for the overall record. Only the Beatles (19) and Jay-Z (13) have more. For the record, here are her top charting albums:

1) 1964: People
2) 1974: They Way We Were
3) 1976: A Star is Born
4) 1978: Barbara Streisand’s Greatest Hits: Vol 2
5) 1980: Guilty
6) 1985: The Broadway Album
7) 1993: Back to Broadway
8) 1997: Higher Ground
9) 2009: Love is the Answer
10) 2014: Partners

Impressive.

Over on the digital single chart, Taylor and Meghan continue to battle it out. Meghan is dominating the Airplay charts, but Taylor released “Shake it Off” to Spotify so she may catch up on the streaming charts. “All About the Bass” will likely have it’s third week at the top of the Hot 100.
