Idol Sales News – Week Ending 02/08/15

The final estimated charts are in from HDD and Now 53 (featuring a track from One Direction) tops the sales chart this week dethroning Taylor Swift. But no worries, Taylor takes the top of the combined chart for another week with strong TEAs&SEAs. Now 53 slips to second. Fifth Harmony is the big reality singing debut of the week and comes in third for sales, slipping to fifth on the combined charts. Sam and Ed, boosted by hit singles and performances at the Grammys hold 4/5 on sales and 3/4 on combined. Maroon V climbs in to the top top of the combined chart with their new hit “Sugar” providing some added energy. One Direction moves up on the combined chart while Carrie holds steady.

The one day predictions are out for this sales week and the “Shades of Grey” Soundtrack is going to be the top album with 175-200k in sales – and that prediction comes before the movie is even out. I haven’t read the books and have no interest in seeing the movie, but its been hard to escape all the negative buzz about this project. IDK. If people are going ape about the soundtrack before the movie is released, I’m suspecting that this movie is not going to flop like so many have predicted for months. The books have their fans. I’m glad for them.
