Bucky Signs!
Bucky Covington has signed a record deal with Lyric Street Records according to the Nashville Business Journal
Lyric Street Records is flying high with top-selling Rascal Flatts on its roster, but without a hefty music catalog to get it through any tough times, the relatively young country-music label can’t rest on its laurels.
In December, Bucky Covington, a North Carolina artist who made it to American Idol’s top 12 finalists this year, signed with Lyric Street, and the label expects to hit the ground running in January with Covington’s first single.
That first single, “Different World” was debuted on 95.7 WKML, North Carolina yesterday afternoon. Caller support was so overwhelming, that it was the #1 song on that evenings Top 5 at 6. For more information, check out Buckymania! blogspot. Looks like Bucky is on a roll…
And finally, Paris Bennett recently signed with 306 Entertainment, an independent label run by her uncle. Her single “Dreamin” will be released to iTunes and radio this month. Her album is scheduled to drop in March.
So far, Season 5 has a slew of signed AI graduates. Four Idols, Taylor Hicks, Katharine McPhee, Chris Daughtry and Kellie Pickler signed contracts with 19Recordings at the end of the competition. Taylor, Chris and Kellie have all released albums. Katharine’s is due to drop January 30. Mandisa has recently signed with EMI Nashville. And word is, that Elliott Yamin’s management is currently working on a record deal. That’s 7 Idols with done deals, and 1 apparently on the way. Impressive.
