Idol Olympians

With the Olympics on, the talk of sports has invaded everywhere. The newscasts, the coffee room and even here at MJs…especially since a certain Idol was blessed with a certain coronation song that works perfectly for sports montages.

This has led me to wonder, what if some of our favourite reality singing show contestants had gone another way. Instead of becoming famous for their musical endeavors, they had taken a more sporting turn. But, do any of the Idols have sufficient athletic prowess to get to the Olympics? Well, sometimes, it depends on how you look at it. Canadians have been most successful at introducing new sports to the Olympics and winning gold at them before anybody notices that the sport even exists (our only gold in this Olympics if from Trampolining! We kick ass at jumping on those juvenile arm breaking devices!)

So, tell us about the sport an Idol, X-Factorer or Voice (if you can remember any of their names) excels in.

I would like to nominate Scotty McCreery for consideration. Not for his pitching ability (which, though fine, is probably not going to get him to the Olympics, especially since baseball has been thrown out of the Olympics almost as frequently as badminton players who play to lose), but because he has another skill. Slip-and-slide! Why? 1. As a new sport, other nations will take time to train coaches, perfect techniques and learn how to cheat (if I crash on purpose, I can get a restart!). 2. You could add a judging component and bribe the judges (consult a boxing or figure skating judge as to just how that is done). 3. It looks very photogenic and fun to watch!

Who do you nominate? What hidden talent to they have?
