Ryan Seacrest on Joan Rivers: “She’d Be Doing Her Shtick, Even in the Hallway” – Ryan Seacrest shared a few words on the late Joan Rivers, who died Thursday, while on CBS This Morning on Monday. “They taped Fashion Police every Friday at the E! building where I would do my show on a daily basis, where we broadcast my radio show, and she would be out in the hallway having an omelet before they taped the show,” he said. “First thing in the morning, she’d be going a million miles per hour, and she’d be doing her shtick, even in the hallway. So when I would go out to go to the bathroom during a long song, she would say things like, ‘That is such a great shirt. Do they make it in men’s?’ I mean, OK, Joan’s in the building, working! But it was like that every time she was around. And I think that, as Melissa said, she would want us to laugh.” – Read more at The Hollywood Reporter

Citi Culinary Beats: Alex & Sierra Spice Things Up With Top Chef Hung Huynh – Alex & Sierra displayed sizzling onstage chemistry throughout their victorious run on The X Factor Season 3 last year. But when they recently joined another reality TV champ — Chef Hung Huynh, winner of Top Chef Season 3 — at his acclaimed seafood restaurant, Catch NYC, they proved they can bring the heat to the kitchen as well. Bonding over their shared Vietnamese heritage (Sierra’s mother, like Chef Huynh, is from Ho Chi Minh City, and she cooked traditional Vietnamese dishes while Sierra was growing up); reality competition experiences; foodie obsessions; and Sierra’s somewhat intimidating knife-wielding skills, the folk-pop duo enjoyed a special cooking lesson from Chef Huynh. Then, they headed upstairs to entertain the chef with a tasty performance of their first single, “Scarecrow.” – See the Videos at Yahoo Music

  1. Thanks for the info on Grace Askew. She was one of my favorites and I was very disappointed she didn’t make it farther. I’m not at all a fan of country music, but did love her take on it with a twist of the blues.

  2. Ain’t no ‘political correctness’ in Joan Rivers. She was awesome!!! She spoke what a lot of us were thinking, but wouldn’t say, and a lot of her insults were directed at herself. Sorry to see her go. RIP

  3. Indeed. One of my favorite quotes of hers is “I succeeded by saying what everyone else is thinking” . Whether it be on QVC or the red carpet or a talk show appearance she always cracked me up. I’m currently reading her book Diary of a Mad Diva and I really recommend it.

  4. Billboard: Exclusive: Usher Taking His Time With ‘UR,’ Says ‘Album Isn’t Scheduled Anymore’

“The album isn’t scheduled anymore. I’ve basically taken it back. I’m taking my time with it,” he tells Billboard. “At the end of the day, all of this is just about having fun. You get in the studio [and] go with how you feel.”

  5. Kris Allen @KrisAllen
In NYC for a couple days. Goal: Hang out with @jimmyfallon

  6. Let’s hope this “goal” means that he is setting up an appearance on Fallon’s show :Also that he might have other interviews, etc set up.

  7. This is OT but it is big news:

Star Baltimore Ravens RaB Ray Rice has just had his contract terminated by the team and was suspended indefinitely by the NFL. Rice had been suspended for the first 2 games of the season for a domestic violence incident against his then fiancee (now wife) — a suspension that was heavily criticized for being way too light. But this morning TMZ release a video that shows Rice knocking his wife unconscious inside an elevator, then dragging her body out of the elevator. The disgusting, very graphic video obviously spurred the team and the league to take a much stronger response against the RB.

The video is on TMZ Sports if you want to see it, but with this warning — it is graphic and very very disturbing, to say the least.

  8. I hope this doesn’t sound like victim blaming, but the fact she went ahead and married him a month later bothers me.

It very well may have contributed to the NFL not taking the incident as seriously as they needed to.

I hope she doesn’t blame herself for what’s happening to him now.

  9. I personally do not see how Joan Rivers can be replaced on Fashion Police. I’m sure Kathy Griffin could step in and be insulting, but Joan had a gift of making her barbs so OTT they had to be taken as humor.

  10. Unfortunately, some women want the $$ and the fancy lifestyle no matter what. I don’t know if that’s the case with Rice’s wife, but it wouldn’t surprise me.

But no matter what her motives, this is still domestic violence and he should still be punished. The fact that he didn’t even have to face prosecution (he was accepted into a diversion program and the 3rd degree assault charges against him will be dropped if he successfully completes the program) is a joke, IMO.

  11. Wow. There are women who stay with abusers who have no money. Many women feel that they deserve no better, that they are the cause, that If only they hadn’t done this or that, the abuse wouldn’t happen. A lot of the time any self-worth they have has been either beat out of them or their abusers have played so many mind games with them they don’t know which way is up.

  12. I don’t think that you can write this off as a woman being a golddigger. Women and men who are in abusive relationships stay in those relationships for a lot of reasons, including out of fear. They are being controlled by the person who is abusing them.

  13. I realize that. I had a friend who continually went back to a guy who beat the crap out of her on a regular basis. And he didn’t have any money; in fact he was unemployed as often as he wasn’t. She wouldn’t listen to me or anyone else when we tried to get her to walk away from the relationship. I finally gave up on trying to help her, because for whatever reason, she thought that was the relationship she deserved. It was very sad.

And I said that I did not know if $$ / lifestyle was the reason Ray Rice’s wife stays with him. But let’s not be naive. He’s a professional athlete who is famous and makes a lot of money. So we can’t rule that out as a reason why she has stayed. There could be multiple reasons that she’s stayed. For example — he has a kid (I’m not sure if she is the mother or not, though).

  14. Can someone, anyone please make it stop! lol. But that is a good article for Kris.

  15. I agree. Rihanna had more money than Chris Brown but she went back for awhile. And this lady has a child with her abuser so there could be many reasons she can’t break the cycle yet. When I worked at a domestic abuse shelter (only lases 4 months) it was the worst job I ever had. To see broken and battered women go back to the abuser no matter how much help we offered was draining.

  16. It’s stupid, but the way that I look at it is that every public figure is going to have people who seek out articles on the internet, so that they can trash that person. This situation is silly, but the fact is that Kris has a lot fewer of these internet stalkers in comparison to people like Kanye West, Beyonce, Rihanna, Jay Z, etc.

  17. I agree they all get it and it is not a bother. But I was referring to that same person who is just relentless.
