Music : ‘American Idol’ finalist makes quick visit to Martha’s Vineyard – “American Idol” 2012 finalist Erika Van Pelt took a break from the American Idol Live Tour this past Friday, Aug. 24, and performed a gig with The Sultans of Swing. A member of the band until she landed a spot on the show, Ms. Van Pelt performed with The Sultans at Atlantic Fish and Chop House in Edgartown, a familiar venue for the singer. Carrie Underwood says a country judge ‘would be wise’ for ‘American Idol’ – Like almost everyone else, “American Idol” alum Carrie Underwood is well aware of the rumors that the Fox television show that catapulted her to stardom is now considering a country singer for the judge’s panel. “I feel like we’ve heard just about every artist’s name under the sun as far as who is going to be a judge,” Underwood says. “But, I do think it would be wise to have a country person in. You look at the track record of ‘American Idol,’ and there’s me and Scotty (McCreery) and Lauren (Alaina) who were the final two … There’s obviously a want for it from the ‘American Idol’-watching audience because that’s who they are voting for. The 8,000 square foot house — which has a detached nightclub — was listed for $12.9 million and sold for $11 million. Sounds great, except Ryan paid $11.5 million when he bought it back in 2006. Blame the housing market … but we’re guessing it’s not going to make a dent in Ryan’s wallet. The sale became official this morning. The new buyers are some rich English folk. Christina Aguilera: New album is a ‘rebirth’ – LOS ANGELES (AP) — Christina Aguilera is comparing her upcoming album to a “rebirth.” With more than a decade in the music business behind her, the album will be a culmination of “everything I’ve experienced up until this point,” the 31-year-old pop star said in a recent interview. “I’ve been through a lot since the release of my last album, being on (‘The Voice’), having had a divorce,” she said. “This is all sort of a free rebirth for me.” Aguilera and Jordan Bratman were married for five years before she filed for divorce in 2010.
