Idol Headlines for 8/1/14

‘American Idol’ to have auditions at state fair – SPRINGFEILD, Ill. — There’s a chance you could walk away from the Illinois State Fair this year with more than just saltwater taffy, political ephemera and a tummy ache. You could snare a recording contract. The popular television talent-search program “American Idol” will conduct open auditions for its annual season-long contest in the fair’s opening days, Aug. 8 and 9. “The big guys (celebrity hosts) aren’t going to be here to do the tryouts, but if you get through this tryout, you don’t have to go to the big auditoriums and wait with 50,000 people,” state fair manager Amy Bliefnick said Thursday at the fairgrounds. “They will automatically advance you to the next level.” – Read more at the Miami Herald

Dia Frampton warms up ‘Voice’ – “Since it was the first season, we just didn’t have anything to put it up against,” Frampton said. “I was like ‘The Voice? What do you mean? Who’s coaching what?’ And he was just like, ‘There are four coaches.’ I’m like, ‘Who are they and what do they mean?’ (And he said) ‘Like they haven’t picked them yet. The show is being put together.’ “I could have been flying to L.A. to try out for, I don’t know, a karaoke party,” she said. “That was as much idea as I had about anything.” Frampton, though, didn’t have much to lose at that point. Wheeling’s Haley Reinhart releases indiegogo-funded music video – “I brought the song to a buddy (Danni G.) who told me ‘We should do a music video for this – maybe a B-boy, break-dancing type thing.’ “ Reinhart said. “That branched out into super galactic craziness. I give him a lot of credit. He has a lot of friends that are world class dancers. We utilized that and tapped into the festival scene with a lot of really funky and space-y clothes and tribal painting. ‘Big Brother 16’: Amber Borzotra on Caleb’s Obsession and All-Girl Alliance Failures – Looking back, was there something you could have said or done to buy yourself at least another week of safety?
I think if I had gone to the right people about getting Caleb out, then maybe it could have gotten me a little bit more time in the house because he was my next target. Of course, I was looking at Zach as a threat, but then I was seeing who my real threat was. Last week was very weird in the case between me and Caleb so it was, “OK, he has to go.” But I’m not there to make that happen so I hope the rest of the house does make that happen this week. – Read more at The Hollywood Reporter

‘Big Brother 16’s’ Amber Borzotra: Caleb made me feel ‘so uncomfortable’ – Were you ever afraid of him? Because there were definitely live-feed watchers who were genuinely concerned about your safety. y thing is I think that there’s more to it that I don’t know. I haven’t seen anything yet. I think I’m going to find out a lot about Caleb by watching the show. I wasn’t afraid for my safety just because I didn’t see a lot of things. I just felt uncomfortable by how he was coming off, and I felt like I couldn’t even be around some of teh guys because he would get jealous or mad. I felt like him getting me out of the house was also so he didn’t have to see that either. I think if I stayed any longer in there, then yeah, I would probably have to be worried for my safety, after finding some stuff out now. – Read more at Zap2it
