‘American Idol’ Top Five Keep Their Eyes on the Prize, From Finale to Florida Tour Kickoff – For season 14 winner Nick Fradiani, the time between the finale and the live tour has been devoted to his career. He’s been to almost 20 cities since May 13, mainly doing radio promotion for his debut single, “Beautiful Life.” He has also done some concerts and has had writing sessions, both on his own and with others. “We’re trying to get as much material as we can,” he explains. “Some of the writers I’ve worked with are well known and some aren’t. It’s interesting when you work with someone you’ve just met. I’ve been co-writing my whole life, so this is an easy transition for me. I’ve got a big co-write coming up while I’m on tour, with Jason Mraz. We’re so different; our writing styles and genres aren’t the same at all.” – Read more at Billboard
After a false start, Nick Fradiani nabbed reality show stardom – Winning “Idol” was about the last thing crossing Mr. Fradiani’s mind when he decided to audition. He was actually approached during his time on “America’s Got Talent” by some personnel who had connections with “Idol,” and promised he could get in front of some executive producers of “Idol,” rather than having to do the standard cattle-call audition. Still, Mr. Fradiani was lukewarm to the idea. Besides, Beach Avenue was making progress, having released a couple of EPs and starting to build a following around the Northeast. “I said no at first because of the band,” he said of the invitation to audition. – Read more at Florida Weekly
Rosie Perez Leaving ‘The View’ – Seven months after Rosie O’Donnell’s exit was announced, another Rosie is leaving The View. This time, it’s Rosie Perez. Her last day on the ABC News program will be August 6, the final original show of the season. Expect Perez, who joined the show in September, to talk about her exit on tomorrow’s broadcast. “Our friend Rosie Perez has decided to leave the show to pursue full time her love for acting,” EP Bill Wolff told staff this afternoon in an email. – Read more at Deadline
