Chris Daughtry on Playing for the Troops, Chowing Down on Fourth of July – To some, the Fourth of July means the beach, beer and barbecues, but Daughtry will spend that day being reminded of the true meaning of the holiday — they’ll be performing for the troops at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. “It’s just, like, the best crowd ever,” says Chris Daughtry. “That’s gonna be fun. We always love playing for the troops. We’ve done many tours overseas and different military bases and it’s just like the best crowd ever,” Chris tells ABC Radio. “They’re so grateful and so awesome and they do all the hard work, you know?” – Read more at ABC News Radio

No idle times for ‘Idol’ winner Phillip Phillips – “I’m really proud of where I’m at today,” Phillips tells The Daily News. “‘American Idol’ was just really a platform. What you do after that is what separates you from the show. And I’ve been working really hard, touring constantly, and building those fans. You’ve got to work hard. It’s how I grew up — you work hard for what you want and eventually something good will happen.” – Read more at MercuryNews.com

Singer-songwriter Casey Abrams stretches his legs beyond ‘American Idol’ – “Until I enter the world in a different way, that is going to be my story, and I’m not afraid to talk about it,” Abrams told The Daily Times recently. “Of course, that was four years ago, but I look to some inspirational people out there. Jordin Sparks is very inspirational. She won the show in season six, and she’s doing very well. She’s got a single out, she’s acting in movies, and she’s been working hard. Before, she was always ‘American Idol’s’ Jordin Sparks, but now, she’s just Jordin Sparks. I’m doing as many things as possible as just Casey Abrams, and even though it’s been the biggest experience of my life until now, there’s an even bigger experience out there.” – Read more at The Daily Times

‘Big Brother’ Fan-Favorite Talks First Live Eviction and Winning Over America – What is the key to winning over America? America really likes someone who is very authentic. If you’re playing to the cameras, are fake, or lie and don’t own up to it in the diary room, America hates that. They want validation. Own up to being a liar or, “Yes, I’m a competition beast and I’m going to kick everyone’s ass.” They like someone who makes big moves. If that big move is sitting back and doing nothing, then own up to it in the diary room. The diary room is a huge factor because that’s where you tell America what your game plan is. – Read more at the Hollywood Reporter
