PALA: Lee DeWyze and ‘Idol’ alums to perform benefit concert – For some it is a song, for others a music class or teacher that propels them into the world of entertainment, but for Lee DeWyze, it was a guitar collecting dust that was tucked in a closet in his Mount Prospect, Ill. home. “My dad helped me string the guitar and I started playing when I was about 13 years old,” the “American Idol” season nine winner said in a telephone interview last week. DeWyze will top a show featuring several “Idol” alumni at a concert benefiting the Oak Grove Center for Education Treatment & The Arts – a non-profit organization that helps at risk youth at facilities in Murrieta and Perris. The show will be held in the Infinity Room at Pala Casino Spa & Resort on Friday, June 5. Joining DeWyze will be season six runner-up Blake Lewis, season five contestant Elliott Yamin and season 9 finalist Didi Benami, who will also serve as the evening’s emcee.- Read more at Pe.com
