Candice Glover to perform at October USCB homecoming concert – Lowcountry native and “American Idol” winner Candice Glover will perform during homecoming weekend at the University of South Carolina Beaufort on Oct. 4. Glover’s concert will take place on the Hilton Head Gateway campus in Bluffton. Gates will open at 5 p.m. Her concert will begin at 7:30 p.m., preceded by an opening act at 6:30 p.m. Tickets, which are free for USCB students and children under 5 and $15 for the general public, go on sale Aug. 17. ‘Voice’ activated: Reigning champ Josh Kaufman leads nationwide tour of NBC show – He wasn’t very familiar with reality television when he drove from Indianapolis to St. Louis last July for his audition. “I never watch much of those shows,” Kaufman told The Sun in a recent phone interview just before the start of tour rehearsals. “I don’t watch much of anything on TV, to be honest. I pretty much watch ESPN and kids shows.” But he had watched a little of The Voice. “It seemed more interesting than American Idol or other shows. I liked the format. New Orleans ‘American Idol’ auditions 2014: Is the next superstar singer one of us? – The “American Idol” auditions roadshow comes to New Orleans on Wednesday (June 25), with an all-day open-call hootenanny scheduled for Lakefront Arena. The Fox singer-search has come to town several times over the past decade, and our region has produced many memorable contestants (George Huff to Lindsey Cardinale to Judd Harris to Joshua Ledet). Benoist, who plays Marley on Fox’s singing drama, will play Marcia, the well intentioned roommate of Sophie, in the Nicholas Sparks adaptation. Britt Robertson and Scott Eastwood lead the cast as a young couple whose romance parallels the the intertwined love story of a local elderly man and his lady love.
