Overmyer talks about life after ‘Idol’
For the past few weeks, the singer who nearly cracked the top-10 in the recent “American Idol” season, has been enjoying life back home.
“Aug. 23, I’m getting married (to fiance Casey Taylor) so I’ve been planning the wedding and getting to relax, ” said Overmyer, who impressed the nation with her rocking voice and laid-back attitude on one of the most popular reality shows on the planet.
But Overmyer will soon be back at work shopping her demo around Los Angeles, rehearsing with her band and getting ready to play the Harley-Davidson 105th Anniversary Celebration Aug. 28 to 31 in Milwaukee.
Love Life & Groupies: David Cook Under Spotlight After American Idol
So can it be true love with Kim? The title of the item from the weekly entertainment magazine reads, “David Girl Turns Groupie”.
That doesn’t mean she is one of the usual buxom bimbos that surround rock stars, that means she might be with David on tour. The report claims that Kim, 26, is planning to join the 25-year-old rocker on a few of his American idol tour dates. David, however, is still coy about their future together. “Kim and I went out on a date, had a good time, ” David tells OK!. “Past that, there’s really not too much to say. If schedules warrant, we may hang out again.”
David Archuleta: From American Idol to Pals With Vanessa Hudgens & Zac Efron?
Will David Archuleta make an appearance with Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens? That’s the subject of an item from Mike Walker of the Enquirer and he reports that Disney is driving strong to the hoop to get an cameo of the American idol runner up for the big screen movie High School Musical 3. It seems like a pretty shrewd move by Disney to try and grad Archuleta for the film but can they pull it off?
‘Midwest Nights’ kicks off new season with new set
Reed is declaring Friday’s episode of “Midwest Nights” the start of season two. The show runs at 6 p.m. Fridays and 10 p.m. Sundays and is packed with interviews, live performances and skits.
Season two will start with a bang featuring an interview with Amanda Overmyer, Mulberry’s “American Idol” sensation. Woodstove Flapjacks, DJ Nutt and The Insomniacs are slated for the upcoming episode, too.
‘Red’-hot star revs up festival
From the jumbo speakers that dotted the concert stage, two famed music groups, Lady Antebellum, then Kellie Pickler, made a red-hot country entrance on the opening night of the America’s River Festival.
Event organizers say some 3, 500 screaming fans packed the concert grounds of the Port of Dubuque, on a clear night with no threat of rain.
“Kellie Pickler!” squealed Lynsay Haverland, 14, brandishing a photo of Pickler and rocking on a pair of red high heels, perhaps a salute to one of Pickler’s biggest country hits — “Red High Heels.”
“She is, like, my idol! I love her!” Haverland said.
Carrie Underwood fans pack arena
Carrie Underwood fans of all ages flocked to the Big Sandy Superstore Arena Saturday night for her first stop in Huntington.
The former …American Idol star, who has released two albums since winning the show in 2005, is on the …Carnival Ride Tour, promoting her second album. She is especially popular with young women.

Celebs Set Stage for Palms Place Grand Opening
On a relatively cool evening for Las Vegas, quite a few celebrities arrived in high style and graced the red carpet for the grand opening of the newest high-rise condominium complex in town.
Constantine Maroulis, the heartthrob from a past season of “American Idol, ” attended.
He spoke about his later association with the singing competition. “I was an actor long before ‘Idol.’ You must do good projects and believe in what you do, and, hopefully, good things will happen to you.” He attended Boston Conservatory of Music where he earned his bachelors in Fine Arts.
Taylor Hicks ready for Capitol ‘Fourth’
For some singers, the “Capitol Fourth” experience can be imposing.
Behind them is the massive National Symphony. In front of them are 300, 000 people, plus more watching on PBS.
Then again, some people are used to such commotions.
Just ask Taylor Hicks. Even before his “American Idol” fame, he sang at the Talladega Superspeedway. “It’s like Mardi Gras times 10, ” he said.
“Every 4th of July, I’ve probably been performing, ” he said.
In the daytime, he’d take it easy near home in Birmingham, Ala. “We’d usually have barbecues. There are some beautiful lakes back home.”
And at night, he would work. He rarely slowed down.
“You really have to love performing, ” Hicks said. “I’ve been in clubs where there was no one there; I’ve done weddings.”

Jessica Simpson Punches Back at Carrie Underwood: Real Girls Eat Meat
If there isn’t a real battle between country charmer Carrie Underwood and new to Nashville Jessica Simpson there might be soon. On Friday Jessica was spotted at the Los Angeles International airport (LAX) with Dallas Cowboys quarterback and beau Tony Romo and photos of the two working their way through the airport show what might be considered as a Jessica stiff jab at Carrie.
The pictures show Jess with a red t-shirt on with the phrase “Real Girls Eat Meat” in all caps across the front. Carrie Underwood has been voted the “World’s Sexiest Vegetarian” twice. Carrie frequently mentions that vegetarian pizza is one of her favorite foods, and while making her new album, the chef in the recording studio reportedly made vegetarian barbecue for her between songs. What more, Carrie is also known to rescue stray animals.”

– The original plan for former American Idol contestant Ace Young was to team with Eric Young at the TNA Slammiversary pay-per-view to face another tag team. We haven’t heard anything else beyond that and it’s likely that Ace won’t be wrestling.
