Nashville Season 4: Eric Close Won’t Return as a Series Regular – Nashville‘s Eric Close, whose character was taken away in handcuffs at the end of the ABC drama’s third season, will not be a series regular in Season 4, TVLine has learned exclusively. ‘Idol’ Nick Fradiani’s crazy journey ahead – In the studio: And after the tour, there’s an album to make. Fradiani doesn’t exactly have a release date nailed down — “We’re going to do some more singles after that, two or so,” he said — but he’s in no hurry. “We don’t want to rush it, you know? We want to make sure we have the best songs, and whenever that happens, that’s when we’ll put it out.” – Read more at USAToday

A Gloriously Wacky Day with Paula Abdul, the Savior of ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ – Specifically, Paula Abdul is being a hot mess. This is not a dig at the venerable pop star turned reality TV judge, so famously of sleepy tongue and meandering thought. This is an homage to her, her brand, her—to use a word she employs a half-dozen times in two hours—“authenticity,” and, ultimately, her intelligence. ‘Dance’ contestants leap to other roles – Season 4 runner-up Stephen “tWitch” Boss, who has a weekly gig on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and will appear in July in Magic Mike XXL, credits the series with putting dance at the entertainment forefront, instead of in the background, and raising the profiles of dancers and choreographers. “You get a chance to see and hear what the dancers think, how they feel. With each different style, you get a peek into their personalities. It helps you fall in love with them,” says Boss, who will serve as mentor on Dance this season. “That love continues and you wonder where they are throughout their career. The casting directors also have an eye for those things.” – Read more at USAToday

BlackBerry and Ryan Seacrest’s Typo Reach Settlement – BlackBerry has reached a settlement with Typo, a maker of iPhone keyboards co-founded by “American Idol” host Ryan Seacrest, which the smartphone maker had accused of ripping off its design. Typo Products LLC will be banned from selling keyboards for mobile devices with a screen size that’s less than 7.9 inches, essentially knocking them out of the iPhone market as the largest model of the Apple phone has a height of 6.22 inches. – Read more at The Associated Press
