Phillip Phillips’ Favorite Things – Phillip Phillips has come a long way from his “American Idol” days. He just released his second album Behind The Light, which features his latest single “Raging Fire.” On his new album, Phillip says, “It just has a little bit more of a rock edge to it. Nothing too crazy but, you know; and it’s a little more mature than the first album, and the music is more technical. I’m excited for people to hear that because it has cool guitar riffs and string parts and drum beats, and to me, it’s so much better than the first album. I hope people really enjoy it. And it sounds like a band record, which I really like.” – Read more at iHeartRadio

‘So You Think You Can Dance’: The Workout Game – Another summer, another season of amazing performances on So You Think You Can Dance that have me wishing I’d taken some classes this winter or spent a little more time at the gym. Every year, I watch Fox’s competition show religiously, but every year I contemplate my inactivity from the comfiest spot on my couch. The most exercise I get from my fandom is the buttons I press to call and vote for my favorite dancer. Well, not this year. Save the drinking games for America’s Got Talent — I’m coming up with a workout game for this season of SYTYCD. And I hope you’ll join me. After all, we don’t have to wait for National Dance Day to get moving. – Read more at Yahoo.com

On Your Toes! Nigel Lythgoe Dishes the Return of So You Think You Can Dance – TV Guide Magazine: Eleven seasons? Already? How can that be? Lythgoe: Hasn’t the time flown? I’m so glad you weren’t there to see our original pilot for the series. [Laughs] It was just horrible! But we got our act together and it’s been so gratifying to see the show evolve right along with the audience. Kids who were 7 when we hit the air now audition for us! It’s horrific that they’re stopping arts programs in the classroom these days but, sadly, it’s good for us because these kids are finding an outlet in dance through watching our show. We now have so many street kids and urban kids getting involved in their communities by creating dance crews. Far better than drug crews, isn’t it? – Read more at TV Guide

‘So You Think You Can Dance’: Mary, Nigel and Cat on the new season, how the dancers are getting smarter, and more – “I think people have actually got it and they understand that they have to do something different,” host Cat Deeley told EW at the Los Angeles auditions in March. Hollywood marked the final audition city for season 11 of the hit summer franchise and, unlike in previous seasons, will also serve as the callback location replacing Las Vegas. “At least they’re going somewhere!” judge Mary Murphy joked. After more than a decade on the air, expectations are higher for everyone involved. “Some cities, we were very picky with our tickets,” Murphy said. “After so many seasons, we know what we want to see and we want to see unique and we want to see something new.” – Read more at Entertainment Weekly
