‘Idol’ Winner Rolling Out Debut Album in July – NEW YORK — Candice Glover spent more time on season 12 of “American Idol” than she will on creating her debut album. The 23-year-old, who won the Fox singing series last week after competing for four months, is set to release “Music Speaks” on July 16. Past “Idol” champs released their debut albums in the fall after winning the contest in the spring, but Glover said she’s ready to capitalize on the insta-fame “Idol” has given her. – via The New York Times

Idol winner Candice Glover: I thought Kree would win!

Kree Harrison Hoping For A Studio ‘Go ‘Round’ With Pal Kacey Musgraves – Harrison and Musgraves worked together on the latter’s breakthrough album, Same Trailer Different Park. Harrison sang backup vocals on the release and is hoping to enlist Musgraves’ songwriting prowess for her own album. “She’s one of my best friends and I’m so proud of her, and vice versa,” she told MTV News of the “Merry Go ‘Round” singer. “So I’m sure we’ll write for it. … She’s the epitome of class and so good for country to get that out there right now.” – See the Video at MTV

‘American Idol’s’ Angie Miller Says She’ll ‘Fight’ To Make An Album Her Way – “And on my album, I am totally going to fight for what I believe in, and I want the songs and the sounds to be one-hundred percent me,” she continued. “I want the meanings of the songs to be what would come from my heart. I would love for every song to be co-written, or written by me, or have at least a piece of every song, so I know it comes from my heart.” “I would love to do something with Jesse J and Adam Lambert. They’re awesome. There are lots of artists that I’d love to work with, very different styles, too, like Bon Iver. I’d love to do something with him. He’s such a great writer,” – See the Video at MTV

The Best of Randy Jackson – AMERICAN IDOL SEASON 12

‘X Factor’ Saves Big by Replacing Britney Spears – Sources tell THR that the new recruits will cost a fraction of the $15 million that Britney Spears commanded in season two: around $1 million for former Destiny’s Child singer Rowland, 32, and closer to $1.5 million for Rubio, 41, a Mexican singer-actress who also pulls down a judge’s salary for La Voz Kids, a Spanish-language kids version of The Voice airing on Telemundo. – Read more at The Hollywood Reporter

Queen’s Brian May Says ‘The Voice’ Is ‘Dumb’ and ‘the Ultimate Insult To Music’ – “Sorry — hate to be negative — but I have to say this,” May wrote. “In my opinion, The Voice is absolutely the dullest, dumbest, most depressing programme on TV. It’s also the ultimate insult to music and to performers. Every time I catch a glimpse of young singers busting their guts trying to win somebody’s attention, who is rudely sitting with their back to the singer I feel sick.” The guitarist continues to compare The Voice to reality obstacle course show It’s A Knockout, writing that “This is not — NOT — what music is about.” – Read more at The Hollywood Reporter

Exclusive! Tom Jones Talks ‘The Voice U.K.’ – Explained the 72-years-young showman: “I thought what a great idea it was to have four entertainers giving their views on singing…I like the fact that it’s all about the voice, and I thought that was a great idea about the chairs, because you’re judging people on the way they sound, not the way they look. So you get people that would come on ‘The Voice’ that maybe wouldn’t go on another show, because they feel a lot better, because they are being judged on their vocal ability.” – See the Video at Yahoo.com
