Lyor Cohen’s 300 Signs Jacquie Lee In Partnership with Atlantic (Exclusive) – Jacquie Lee, may have been runner-up in Season Five of NBC’s “The Voice,” but she just hit the jackpot in terms of catching the ear of one of the all-time great music executives. “I had no idea I’d be signing an artist who performed on ‘The Voice’ or any of these TV shows,” says Lyor Cohen principle of 300, a music start-up company launched in November 2013 and which today is announcing the signing of the 16-year old Lee to a worldwide label deal in partnership with Atlantic Records. “In my entire career I haven’t signed one, but she was so undeniable and I was so completely gobsmacked – I didn’t care where she came from.” – Read more at Billboard

‘American Idol’: 9 Things You Didn’t See on Season 13’s Penultimate Episode – 1. In a venue that holds 7,000 people, there were only three Idol finalists from past seasons (though many more are expected at Wednesday’s finale). ‘American Idol’ Alum Returns as Backup Singer: Allison Iraheta Pulls Back the Curtain (Q&A) – The answer is season eight alum Allison Iraheta, who has also been on stage for all of the season 13 live episodes. The magenta-haired singer turned 17 while she was competing on Idol. Today, she is 22 and has spent another full season on the show, this time as a backing singer in Rickey Minor’s band.

‘The Voice’ star Ddendyl on life after reality TV, and how the NBC singing show really operates – “’The Voice’ really gets people that have had that struggling musicians journey, and I think that’s a really special thing,” Ddendyl said. She knows the route: A classically trained singer since age 5, she’s seen the ups and downs in the music industry. Moving to Los Angeles for an agent who promised her singing gigs; heading to New York City four years later when she landed a record deal; then on to D.C. when the deal fell apart. Though she’s been working steadily as a lounge singer in the District, she’s always wanted to break out at a national level. So last summer, when a music manager friend from Los Angeles was contacted by “The Voice” producers for any recommendations and brought up Ddendyl’s name, it seemed great — though Ddendyl had a few reservations. She had also auditioned for “American Idol” and “X Factor” in the past and wasn’t sure if she wanted to jump into the reality TV world. – Read more at Washington Post

Kellie Pickler working on new album with songwriter husband – Kellie Pickler says she’s constantly writing, so it comes as no surprise that the country star has a new album in the works. “My husband’s a songwriter and a producer, so we’re writing together as well. We’re gearing up for No. 5,” the 27-year-old singer said about her upcoming fifth album. Her husband, Kyle Jacobs, has written songs for the likes of Garth Brooks, Tim McGraw and Kelly Clarkson. The pair, who wed in 2011, has teamed up before, composing songs for Pickler’s 2013 release, “The Woman I Am,” which features the singles “Someone Somewhere Tonight,” “Little Bit Gypsy” and “Closer to Nowhere.” – Read more at CBS News
