American Idol’s Jax discusses song selections, Nashville and more with Dennis and Judi – Jax, New Jersey’s brightest star, is still shining bright on ‘American Idol,‘ and she was nice enough to check in with Dennis and Judi to talk about making it into the Top 5 and what the future holds for her. After Judi was done hounding Jax for the outfit that she wore last week, Jax discussed how she is staying focused through all the craziness that comes along with being part of the Top 5 contestants.”I try, really, really, really hard to look at blogs or anything. But every now and then I do, I’m not perfect or anything.” Jax continued “There’s so much going on internally, that if we started focusing on what’s going on outside the picture, we’ll just lose our minds.” Read more at NJ105

Rayvon Owen talks about “American Idol,” his mom and making it to the Top 5 – “I’m almost 100 percent certain Richmond helped me stay in this competition,” Owen said. His former high school recently held a watch party to support him and posted a video where the crowd went wild when he was “saved” by fans. “That made me so emotional,” Owen said. “To see people get so excited (about me), I’ve never felt anything like this before in my life.” – Read more at Richmond.com

Lauren Alaina on Her First Album After Vocal Cord Surgery: ‘Very Different’ – American Idol alum Lauren Alaina is back on stage and ready to release her new album after vocal cord surgery put her out of commission. The new music, she told Taste of Country before the 2015 ACM Awards, is a totally different style from her previous album, Wildflower, which came out in 2011. “It’s not really like my first record at all. Everything’s different. I have a new voice, too. It’s a brand new me!” Alaina says.
The vocal cord surgery did put her on hold for a while, but it wasn’t all bad. “I can sing a lot higher and a lot stronger,” she explains. “I have a three-octave range now because of it. For me, that’s a big deal.” That’s a good thing, by the way — the average vocal range is 1.5 octaves. – Read more at Taste of Country

Dancing with the Stars celeb blog: Robert Herjavec on dance-offs, anniversaries, and fan questions – It was Eras Night on Dancing with the Stars, and Kym and I found ourselves transported back to the 8’0s. When we heard we had the Argentine tango this week, we were thrilled! Then we heard it was going to be to “Word Up”—and I won’t lie, I just couldn’t visualize it all coming together. The more we listened to the track, we realized how inventive and unique this version was. I’m really pleased with our performance! We got to be serious (despite the squirrel moments) and show off some lifts. Our scores are headed in the right direction, and we find ourselves into week eight with the dreaded double elimination looming. – Read more at Entertainment Weekly
