Katharine McPhee Starts Recording Columbia Debut – Katharine McPhee, star of NBC’s “Smash” and 2006 “American Idol” runner-up, has begun recording her new studio album. The still-untitled LP will be her debut for Columbia Records and third non-holiday LP overall. It’s due out later this year and, according to a press release, will feature songwriting collaborations from Linda Perry, Salaam Remi, OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder and Sia, best known for her collaborations with Flo Rida and David Guetta. – Read more at Billboard
‘Idol’ Alums, Including Season 3’s ‘Pen Salesman,’ Thrive on ‘The Voice’ – Fans of The Voice may have noticed two familiar faces from American Idol this season: season nine’s Luke Edgemon and season three top 10 finalist Jon Peter Lewis, who is competing as part of the duo Midas Whale. Have the American Idol Judges Already Decided This Year’s Winner? – The winner of American Idol’s 12th season won’t be announced until May 16, but it seems as though, if it were up to the judges, one contestant would already be wearing the crown. With the field narrowed to a fierce foursome — Candice Glover, Kree Harrison, Amber Holcomb and Angie Miller — who would all be deserving of a first-place finish, there’s no telling who will be sent home along the way. JLS Breaks Up, Announces Farewell Tour – JLS, the overseas boy band sensation that formed on the U.K. version of “The X Factor” in 2008, has announced that its four members will part ways following a farewell album and tour later this year.
In a message posted on their web site on Wednesday (Apr. 24), the group wrote to fans, “To each and every JLSter, our beloved fans around the world. We wanted to make sure that you heard it from the four of us, that we have decided to bring our time as a band to an end. It has been the most incredible journey over the last 6 years and we have achieved more things than we could have ever dreamed possible.
