Steven Tyler Wishes He Was Back on “American Idol” with Randy…and Nicki Minaj? – After two years as a judge on American Idol, Steven Tyler returned to his first love, Aerosmith. But he admits that he wishes he was still part of the panel on the Fox show…and that Nicki Minaj was there with him. Speaking to Australia’s FasterLouder, Steven says of Idol, “I miss it. I miss J-Lo and Randy. It was a hoot.” He added, “Two years was beautiful. J-Lo loved it, I loved it, Randy was great, especially sitting next to J-Lo every night, being close to that fire. She’s beautiful. I do miss it. I wish it was Randy, me and Nicki Minaj. It would’ve been a hoot.” – Read more at ABC News Radio
‘American Idol’ Alum Allison Iraheta: ‘I Was Done with Singing’ and ‘In a Sad Place’ – “I was done with singing,” the 20-year-old Glendale, Calif. native tells The Hollywood Reporter when asked about coping with being dropped from Jive Records. “I was in a very sad place musically with my career. I didn’t feel anything was happening. I didn’t feel anything was going to happen. I was thinking maybe this just isn’t for me. It was really hard, because emotionally I couldn’t handle it anymore. And since I was really young and didn’t know who I was, it makes sense to me now.” – Read more at Hollywood Reporter
Idol Meter: Contender or underdog? Angie might be both – This year’s American Idol could actually be all about singing. The first-ever all-girl top five got there — despite the voters’ longstanding bias toward male performers — because they sang better than the five drab guys. Now that Candice and Kree have clearly established themselves as the best of the best (Candice set the Idol Meter season record last week), let’s look at the singers who make up this week’s three-underdog night (Fox, Wednesday and Thursday, 8 p.m. ET/PT). – Read more at USA Today

‘Jekyll’ star Constantine Maroulis always knew he wanted to be onstage – “I think every actor would want a challenge like this,” Maroulis said. “A show that’s had a bit of a stigma like this, but is also a mountain to climb physically and emotionally.”
With a score by Frank Wildhorn, a book by Leslie Bricusse and lyrics by the two of them, with Steve Cuden, the show has the potential to flaunt a singing actor’s strengths. As the mild-mannered Dr. Jekyll changes into the animalistic, murderous Hyde, Maroulis gets showstopper songs such as “This Is the Moment.” – Read more at NJ.com
