Kelly Clarkson Looks Back at ‘Idol’ and Cringes

Motherhood Hits Home for Kelly Clarkson, in Life and Music – Giving birth to her first child — and watching her husband tend to their daughter — made Kelly Clarkson realize how much her father wasn’t around when she was growing up. “I think when you hold this little human you’ve created, now I think I understand the depth of the loss I had not having a father figure growing up,” she said in interview last week. “I didn’t really get that or grasp what that was until falling in love with my husband and seeing him be a father and what that actually is when it’s done well.” – Read more at ABC News

Chris Jamison seeking to further ‘Voice’ rise – A year ago, Chris Jamison had his life all figured out. At the time, as a sophomore at Capital University in Bexley, he thought his future was set, he said. “I was going to go to school for four years, graduate, get a job and play music on weekends.”
Then he auditioned for The Voice — and “I learned I can’t make plans anymore.” Jamison recently shook his head at the idea, reflecting his disbelief at the changes in his world since he survived the auditions for the NBC singing competition and made “Team Adam” — coached by Maroon 5 singer Adam Levine. – Read more at Dispatch.com

‘Idol’ stars are living ‘Technicolor’ dream – Q: What’s the best part of working together?
DeGarmo: With Ace and me both being on the road – and, of course, our little weiner dog, Rosie – the whole family band is together. We don’t have to constantly worry about checking in or, “I’m gonna see you in three months.” That can be really stressful. We make home no matter where we are. It’s also kind of like having an insider onstage with you. When you’re married, you can be like, “Uh-oh, I don’t know what’s happening there.” We can both kind of lovingly challenge each other and give each other ideas and thoughts. – Read more at Billboard

Pentatonix Building On Grammy Win, Kelly Clarkson Tour – You never know what can happen when you embark on a project. “I’m living proof of that,” Scott Hoying said. “When you start working on something, who knows where it can lead to?” When Hoying joined the school vocal group, the SoCal VoCals, while attending the University of Southern California in 2010, it was just a fun extracurricular activity.
“I had no big dreams of making it as an a cappella singer,” Hoying said while calling from Los Angeles. “I joined that group just for a good time. I just wanted to be part of something, like a lot of college kids. I always loved to sing. I joined the group and was pretty casual about it.” – Read more at CTNow.com

‘Empire’ Actors Give ‘American Idol’ Contestants Career Advice: Video – It’s a business about tenacity,” explains the actress. “It’s like who can survive the rejection, the heartbreak, those years and actually still want to do it. Thats kind of where the passion is. I looked at the four who didn’t make it tonight, and thought, ‘Ugh God, that must be heartbreaking,’ but at the same time, that’s happened to every performer on the planet.” “We’re both actors, we’re from the world of rejection until you get to where you want to go,” adds Trai. “This is a great thing for them to have experienced this show.” – Read more at Ryan Seacrest.com

Will ‘Empire’ Mean More To The Music Industry Than ‘Glee’? – Following its January debut, the hip-hop soap opera starring Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson continues to hit ratings highs for Fox over the same stretch of winter in which Glee, the network’s long-running musical dramedy, is having its final episodes burned off. Now airing in the Friday night dead zone, Glee is hitting ratings lows ahead of its Mar. 20 series finale, but Fox is happy to focus on the fact that Empire continues adding to its already impressive audience for a broadcast drama. Empire has long been compared to Glee — in a few weeks, the new hit will be scribbling “Drip Drop” on the old hit’s grave. – Read more at Billboard.com
