Source Exclusive: An Intimate Conversation With Jordin Sparks On Dating, Her Relationship With Salaam Remi And Her Upcoming Album – Now you are about to come out with a new one in May. What can your fans expect from this upcoming album? Jordin Sparks: Well the idea behind the mixtape was to give my fans a little taste of what’s to come on the album. There are some songs on there that you’re going to get the full length version of on the album along with some songs that won’t make the album and some you’ve never heard. I feel like going into the beginning stages of making this album, I finally had the freedom that I never had when making my previous album. Salaam Remi, who executive produced the album asked me, “what do you want to do” or “what you want it to sound like” and I never was asked those questions before. So being able to go to the studio with that in mind and with no set uptempo, or genre in mind was great. It was all just about going into the studio with the freedom to make whatever I liked. So fans can expect love songs, turn-up songs, pull-at-your-heartstrings songs and power ballads. So I would say the overall vibe of my upcoming album is based on feelings. – Read more at The Source

‘Voice’ contestant Brian Johnson talks about experience – “I auditioned for the voice in Nashville and Chicago and Philadelphia. Even though those trips ended with a ‘no,’ the rejections came with good feedback,” Johnson says. “It just kind of motivated me to keep going. I’ve been through a lot worse,” he said. “A lot harsher words have been spoken about me.” He finally got his shot after producers for the show came to Cleveland last summer to scout talent for the upcoming season. “This has been a dream of mine for so long, I wanted to be a part of the show, and I obviously wanted to make it far,” he said. – Read more at WKYC.com

‘The Voice’ Hopeful Meghan Linsey Once Charted a Country Hit, Opened for Blake Shelton – Like Pope before her, Linsey had a brief moment of pride when she got the call to come audition. “At first it seemed like a little bit of a hard pill to swallow to go on a show like this,” Linsey tells Billboard. Until, that is, she considered just how little of a leg up that half-decade-old success was worth today. “I spent so many years investing in the Steel Magnolia brand that people don’t really know me as Meghan Linsey on my own. And I feel like it’s almost impossible to be a female and get played on country radio now. I don’t have a ton of money in the bank. I was getting to a point where I can’t do this independently anymore. That’s why it became really clear when they called that this was the right decision.” – Read more at Billboard.com
