In season 8, `American Idol’ hits high notes again
With the economy and Wall Street teetering and American expectations the same, it wasn’t a stretch to think “American Idol” might be another behemoth poised for a fall.
General gloom aside, it had its own issues. The Fox talent contest was entering year eight, when most shows nervously watch for plummeting ratings and a network pink slip. It was adding a new face to the popular three-judge panel and a key producer, Nigel Lythgoe, had moved on.
Could its number be up?
So much for theories. After finishing last season as television’s top-ranked show, “American Idol” is starting off the same way, dominating the competition in total viewers and advertiser-beloved young adults.

Conway American Idol Hopeful: Kris Allen
Did you know American Idol hopeful Kris Allen lives in Arkansas? He auditioned in Louisville, and has made it to the top 36. So far, he’s had no drama, so the producers haven’t focused on him. I almost missed him last week. I really don’t expect him to make it to the top 12. It seems like the producers have already picked the top 12, and the rest are being set up for failure (which always happens on this show). This year the viewers are going to help narrow the field down, which means Kris’s lack of face time up to this point will be a bad thing.
If nobody knows who he is, nobody will vote for him.
Lincoln High School graduate Matt Giraud makes top 36 on ‘American Idol’
Giraud is a 2003 graduate of Lincoln High School in Augusta Township, where he performed in the high school choir and was a cadet teacher for the seventh grade performance choir, according to the high school. He went on to graduate from Western Michigan University, where he performed with the Gold Company vocal jazz program for two years, according to the university.
American Idol Bikini Girl’s 16th Minute Of Fame
Someone needs to tell Katrina Darrell it’s over. She got her 15 minutes of fame as “Bikini Girl” on American Idol before being sent packing but these new pics show she’s still out there trying to get attention.
Ok, she got ours! Katrina tried on bikinis yesterday at Everything But Water in Beverly Hills.
Kady Malloy gives advice to Idol wannabes
Kady Malloy has some sage advice for American Idol singers hoping to make viewers swoon. The Beatles are out. Aretha not a great idea, either. And never, ever try to follow Whitney.
The Katy native missed making last season top 12 by one week, so she knows what she talking about. Malloy, 19, is currently fielding record deals (and sporting darker hair), but she took time to whip up a quick list of love songs Idol contestants should avoid at all costs ‘ unless, of course, youre Kelly Clarkson or Jennifer Hudson:
Idol Worship: Joanna Pacitti “Still Not Giving Up!”
She may have been booted off of American Idol prematurely, but Joanna Pacitti can feel good about one thing: she joins a small, exclusive group of contestants that managed to make a name for themselves before reaching the Top 36 (or Top 24, in the case of Josiah Leming). So what’s next for the beleaguered wannabe pop star? For now, Pacitti is “laying low, ” according to a February 12 status update on her Facebook page, which also contains an endless string of wall posts from well-wishers, including one from her mom, who comments that Joanna and her Dancing With The Stars boyfriend Mark Ballas can now finally go public.

She joined an all-star lineup that included Barry Manilow, Rod Stewart, fellow Idol alum Jennifer Hudson and Whitney Houston. Carrie Underwood: Chris & Rihanna Rumors Are Getting “Ridiculous”
“I don’t think anybody actually knows what happened, ” she added. “I have no advice because, thank goodness, I’ve never been in any kind of abusive situation.”
She told Us she wishes people “would stop” spreading rumors about what led to the incident.
“You hear a new one every five minutes, and some of them are getting kind of ridiculous, ” she said. “I really hope everyone will lay off and just let everybody who’s involved figure out everything first.”

A look back at the history of these kudos along with those bestowed by their country cousin ‘ the Country Music Association (CMA) ‘ reveals a remarkable number of repeat winners. In the 43-year history of the ACM Awards, just 23 men and 24 women have won the vocalist prizes. And only 20 different acts have been named entertainer of the year. The CMAs are no different with many of the champs there having won first at the ACMs or vice versa. Over 42 years, the CMA Awards have seen 23 men and 23 women take top vocal honors while 28 different acts have ranked as entertainer of the year.

KELLY CLARKSON – CLARKSON PUT OFF ACTING FOR GOOD
Singer KELLY CLARKSON has vowed never to appear on the big-screen again – because her last foray into acting was “horrible”.
The Since U Been Gone hitmaker starred in comedy musical From Justin to Kelly in 2003, as part of her deal for winning the first series of reality TV show American Idol.
The film was a box office flop, widely panned by critics – and Clarkson insists she will never be tempted to make the transition from musician to film star again.
She tells Attitude magazine, “Oh it was a movie I had to do, and it was so horrible. Whoever won (American Idol) had to do it. I tried to get out of it legally, because I have no desire to be an actress.
Kellie Pickler Speaks The Heart Truth

David Cook kicks off his first post-…American Idol trek today, but he is already thinking about the end of the jaunt and his hometown stop.
David tour will stop on April 22 in his hometown of Kansas City, Mo., at the Ameristar Casino, a date which sold out recently in just six minutes.

Simon Cowell has reportedly been bombarding his ex-girlfriend Terri Seymour with text messages.
The music mogul is reportedly desperate to win back Terri Seymour – who he split from last October after a six-year relationship – and has been showering her with attention.
A source said: “He has started to bombard Terri with texts saying he misses her and asking her to meet him.
“Terri only replied to a couple of the messages, but that has boosted Simon’s hopes.”
