Best Music 2010: Adam Lambert Picks His Favorite Song And Album Of The Year

Kicking off our series is the dazzling Adam Lambert, who selected an album and song from the same magnetic singer-songwriter… one who can confidently say that 2010 was one of the biggest years of her career. Jump below to find whose music had the biggest impact on Glambert the last twelve months.

Though we’re very aware the high-energy Lambert has a softer side — he is Grammy-nominated for his gorgeous performance of the pleading pop rock ballad, “Whataya Want From Me” — we assumed his favorite tune of 2010 would be something to make you strut on the dancefloor. But it was the heartfelt singer-songwriter Sia who nabbed the double honor of creating Adam’s favorite album and song.

Crystal Bowersox: ‘Idol’ sensation set to release first CD

WCT: I was talking with Melissa Etheridge about you.

Crystal Bowersox: Oh! How was that?

WCT: She loves you and was calling you “Mama Sox.”

Crystal Bowersox: She’s amazing.

WCT: I went to her concert and she played for three hours!

Crystal Bowersox: She kills it. For the Idol tour there was a rehearsal space next door to each other so while the other Idols were doing their thing, I would run over to her space and hang with her.

Lee DeWyze bristles over Idol ruling on instruments

“I think taking instruments away is stupid, ” DeWyze said in a phone interview this morning from Monterey. “Cause if you are a musician, an artist, that’s what you should be allowed to do, play your instruments.

“But at the end of the day when it’s all over the show (American Idol) is not the one that’s writing your album for you and going on the road with you. All I can say is that the more you can stay true to that then the better off you will be.

“To say we hide behind our instruments is funny but … it’s kind of a joke and to say we all sound the same is another joke. But they produce television. I do music. They do TV.”

inMusic chats with Lee DeWyze interview

iM: Did you use any of the songs on the new album that you wrote prior to ‘American Idol?’

DW: Yes, I did. There are a few on there that I had little ideas for like ‘A Song About Love.’ Going into the studio, it was a lot easier for me, and I believe the writers and the producers I worked with because it’s one thing to go into the studio and have no ideas and nothing ready to go but it’s another thing when you’re very pro-active in the writing process. I know who I am as an artist and a musician so it was really easy for me to say and write the things I wanted to and they all really helped direct that.

X Factor star Mary Byrne snapped up by Sony

It’s set to be a very merry Christmas for Mary Byrne. Despite not making it to The X Factor final, the Dublin singer’s former mentor, Louis Walsh, has revealed she has signed a deal with Sony Records.

According to Hello Magazine, Louis said: “I’ll help her with picking the songs and producers. She won’t be going back to Tesco.”

Many now believe Mary’s down-to-earth nature mixed with her stunning, diva–like vocals, could help her emulate Susan Boyle’s success.
