Crystal Bowersox Goes Her Own Way On Farmer’s Daughter

As you might expect, Crystal Bowersox is doing things her own way on her upcoming debut album, Farmer’s Daughter. The 12-track disc from the season-nine “American Idol” second-place finisher, due out December 14, is a mix of country grit and blues growl. And unlike previous “Idol” runner-up debuts (or winner debuts for that matter), most of the songs were written by Bowersox, with two pre-dating her time on “Idol.”

His post-Idol debut album Live It Up, which is being released today, sees him still writing his own songs, referencing his hometown lyrically, and refusing to allow himself to be categorized stylistically. In our Beatweek interview, Lee offers insight into the past four months of his newly hectic life and talks about where things will go from here.

‘So You Think You Can Dance’ Auditions Come to Brooklyn

How would you gauge the public’s reaction to last season’s format change, which introduced the All-Stars, and a Top 10 instead of a Top 20?

Nigel Lythgoe: People don’t necessarily like change. They originally said, “Why are you changing it? We like the top 20.” And I must say: Me too. What happened when we did the top 10, because we wanted to put in tap dancers and we wanted to put in ballroom dancers, we lost some very good contemporary dancers. So we are going to do a Top 20 this year and we’ll introduce the All-Stars at 10. So we’ll have the best of both worlds.

‘Glee’ Guest Star Darren Criss Not Yet A Series Regular

“The weird thing about that is, I hear it from all these different blogs and interviews. … It’s never really been officially confirmed to me, ” Criss told MTV News. “I think the option is there and that they want to keep Blaine around.”

Promotion speculation began swirling a day after Criss’ “Glee” debut as an openly gay glee club member from rival Dalton Academy (and potential love interest for Chris Colfer’s character Kurt). Deadline broke the news that Criss was in talks to become a series regular — a status that would take effect during the show’s already green-lit third season. Creator and executive producer Ryan Murphy seemed to confirm as much in an interview with AfterElton.

Will Gwyneth Paltrow Return to Glee? Ryan Murphy Tells Us

So you fans are asking: Will Gwyneth be back?

“[Gwyneth] and I want her to come back. It depends on [the] story…I love her.”

You hear that, fans? That’s a solid “maybe” and we’ll take it! Given the outpouring of Gwyneth love after last night’s episode—not to mention the iTunes and Nielsen’s backing this morning—something tells me Gwyneth will find her way back to McKinley.
