Cee Lo Green, Mariah Carey to Perform on NBC’s ‘Christmas in Rockefeller Center’ – “American Idol” and “The Voice” might be rivals in the singing-competition arena, but the two shows will come together — sort of — for the Christmas season. “Voice” coach Cee Lo Green and Mariah Carey — who begins her stint as an “American Idol” judge when the show returns in January — will both be on hand to perform on NBC’s 15th Annual “Christmas in Rockefeller Center,” the annual celebration of the lighting of the Christmas tree in New York’s Rockefeller Center. The special airs on November 28 at 8 pm. – Read more at The Wrap.

Robbery suspect, ‘American Idol’ contestant, surrenders – An “American Idol” contestant wanted in the armed robbery of a couple in the parking lot of a Daytona Beach store has surrendered, police said. Antonio Morez Wheeler, 25, went to the Volusia County Branch Jail on Tuesday and posted $50,000 bail on charges of armed robbery, Daytona Beach police said Wednesday. Investigators said Wheeler — who lives in Orlando and has a lengthy arrest record — sold two fake computers at gunpoint to a Palm Coast couple on Nov. 9 in the parking lot of the Target store on West International Speedway Boulevard. – Read more at News-JournalOnline

‘American Idol’ Alum Todrick Hall Makes ‘X Factor’ Debut – How did Hall, who famously put his own spin to Kelly Clarkson’s “Since U Been Gone” for his first Idol semifinal performance (and was eliminated after singing a Queen song), land the gig? Credit choreographer Brian Friedman. “He’s a great guy and a friend of mine who follows my work,” Hall told The Hollywood Reporter following Wednesday’s live show. “He wrote me and said, ‘I know this may be weird, but would you ever consider being a backup singer?’ I was, like, ‘Absolutely!’ Two days later, I’m on stage singing with everybody.”
As it turns out, Hall didn’t even have to audition, but his Idol training came in handy when it was time to learn more than 12 songs (thanks to last-minute changes) in just a couple of days. – Read more at The Hollywood Reporter

‘X Factor’ ‘Diva’ Night: 20 Things You Didn’t See on TV – Also strangely heartwarming: Simon is spotted returning from a commercial break with former fiancé Mezhgan Hussainy in tow. Seems the stunning makeup artist is still very much in the X Factor creator’s life, according to various reports — and thine own eyes. No surprise there, though — another of his former flames, Extra’s Teri Seymour, is a set regular. American Idol bonus: season nine semifinalist Todrick Hall is one of six backup singers sweetening vocals for the contestants. – Read more at The Hollywood Reporter

Keith Urban: ‘American Idol’ ‘allows you to keep your real job’ – “As best we can, we’ve been able to navigate through the audition process,” the friendly Urban tells Zap2it of scheduling his other current activities around “American Idol” and also looking ahead a year, should he re-up for the show. “The good thing is that the auditions aren’t like weeks and weeks. We’ll do two days somewhere, then two days somewhere else, and they’re not often strung together. Sometimes, it’s been a couple of weeks between cities.” – Read more at Zap2it

Kelly Clarkson dreams of boob job – The Since U Been Gone singer admits she’s not a fan of her small breasts, but she doesn’t think she’s got the nerve to have them enhanced. She tells In Touch magazine, “I dream daily of a boob job. I have little boobs. I really want one. But I’m so scared, I would never do it. I’m a wussy girl, and I’d get freaked out.” – Read more at Toronto Sun

Kelly Clarkson didn’t rush ‘Greatest Hits’ – Next week, Kelly Clarkson will become the first act from American Idol to release a greatest-hits compilation. “Well, I hope no one would have beat me on that!” says Clarkson, who won the show’s inaugural 2002 season at age 20. “That would have been sad.” “When I found out that label wanted to release a greatest-hits project, I was like, ‘I want to write something specifically to describe the arc and flow of how the last 10 years have been,'” she says. – Read more at USAToday

Kelly Clarkson in no rush to become country star – “I have, like, 5,000 duets in country music,” Clarkson says, flashing a smile. “I don’t have one in pop. That’s legitimately because everyone turns me down. I’m not even kidding. I’ve asked sooo many artists to sing with me. Everyone legitimately turns me down! The only one that hasn’t was Chris Daughtry.” The sugary sweet pop star who’s called Nashville, Tenn., home for the past six years isn’t naming names (and much to the dismay of fans, her collaborations with fellow “Idol” alum Daughtry were never released.) While she hasn’t exactly been able to hook up with the perfect pop ally, Clarkson has found a partner outside the recording studio. – Read more at Associated Press

Aerosmith appeared in Wichita but ‘Idol’ didn’t, despite what Steven Tyler says – “Do you travel so much that you forget where you are at times?” Bones asked. “Absolutely, absolutely,” Tyler said before unintentionally going on to prove it. “I was on the set the other night in … Wichita, Kansas,” Tyler said. That part was true. Aerosmith played Intrust Bank Arena Sunday night. “Just so happened ‘Idol’ was there,” Tyler said. He went on to explain that he called up his former “Idol” buddies Randy Jackson and Ryan Seacrest, who said they wanted to come to his show. “Of course, I dragged them both out on stage, which was a hoot for me. That was my coup de gras, getting them both out on stage in my world and not on the set of ‘Idol’ was a grand finale for me.” A grand finale it may have been, but it didn’t happen in Wichita. “Idol” was taping in Oklahoma City. Tyler went on to say that the next day he stopped by where “Idol” was shooting in some sort of costume. “I jumped on the set and tried to fool them to see if they could figure out who I was.” Tyler said listeners would have to watch “Idol” to see if he managed to fool anyone. – Read more at Kansas City.com

Carrie Underwood excited for BOK Center show Wednesday – “Coming back to Oklahoma for concerts is always exciting – I’m definitely looking forward to it.” But like any holiday get-together, she also gets the jitters. “I’ve spent so much time around Tulsa my whole life, so when I’m in Tulsa, even though it’s an hour away from my parents house and my hometown, and that’s why all of this still feels like home,” she said, then paused. “I have to add, there still feels like there’s a little added stress because we generally have so many family members and friends coming to those shows. – Read more at Tulsa World

The Voice’: Cee Lo Green & Christina Aguilera Talk Rule Changes, AMAs – Taking the role of eliminator out of “The Voice” coaches’ hands sits well with at least two of the stars in the oversized red chairs. “My trust has been replenished,” Cee Lo Green said after the Nov. 13 live show that saw the cast of singers whittle to 10 from a dozen. “It was exactly as I would have chosen.” Christina Aguilera, who said goodbye to her team’s Adriana Louise, a waitress from Brooklyn, said “it’s bittersweet. I’m a little thankful the pressure is not on my shoulders. There are such a lot of unique singers to there are no losers. They’re all ‘The Voice’ in different ways.” – Read more at Billboard

‘The Voice’s’ Christina Aguilera on Live Show Cuts, and Why She Doesn’t Read What’s Written About Her – “On one level I’m a little thankful that all the pressure is not on my shoulders to make the decision,” she told The Hollywood Reporter after the show. However, seeing one of her team members go wasn’t easy for the coach, who is now starring in her third season on the NBC singing competition. “It’s bittersweet,” she said. “They’re all ‘the voice’ in their own different ways, and they’ll keep fighting from here. As I say, this is only the beginning.” – Read more at The Hollywood Reporter

‘DWTS’ eliminated dancers: One blames the marathon, other blames … herself – It was a double-elimination on Dancing with the Stars tonight. To read the parting words from the booted male and female, head to the jump: No more laughs and no more hot abs – Kirstie Alley and Gilles Marini were both knocked out of the competition Tuesday! While that gives their partners a chance to spend more time together (in case you’ve been living under a rock, Maks Chermkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd are dating), there will be no more skin shots from the Switched at Birth star and no more comic relief from the likes of Alley, who worked like a zen master when it came to de-grumping her Ukrainian hoofer. – Read more at Entertainment Weekly
