Rights Owner of Elvis, ‘Idol’ Scuttles Plan to Go Private

CKX Inc., which licenses the rights to images of Elvis Presley and other celebrities, said that a $1.33 billion plan to go private has fallen through because of “extraordinary” economic conditions.

Formed in 2004, CKX has built a rights portfolio related to the images and creative output of public figures including Muhammad Ali and David and Victoria Beckham.

As a result of its 2005 acquisition of London-based 19 Entertainment Ltd., CKX also owns the “American Idol” TV and music franchise and its international counterparts.

In a filing Monday with the the Securities and Exchange Commission, Messrs. Sillerman and Fuller said they intend to continue pursuing the acquisition using alternative financing options.

Nov. 8 concert honors military

The American Red Cross is asking you to help honor our military service members, veterans and their families on Saturday, Nov. 8, at a concert celebration featuring Josh Gracin, Bo Bice, Rocky Lynne and headliner Billy Ray Cyrus.

…Our generous sponsors have made it possible for us to offer buy-one, get-one-free tickets so people can bring a military service member or veteran to the concert celebration for free, said Barry Porter, regional director for the American Red Cross.

The concert is being held at Koka Booth Amphitheatre in Cary and the 82nd Airborne All American Chorus will kick off the performance at 5 p.m.

Appeals court allows suit against Clay Aiken

RALEIGH ‘  The N.C. Court of Appeals has ruled that a woman who wrote an unauthorized biography about Clay Aiken can proceed with a battery lawsuit against him.

…Battery is defined as unwanted touching. The woman, Jeannie Holleman of Wake County, claimed that one of Aiken bodyguards ‘  at Aiken direction ‘  committed battery on her when he twice pulled her out of a chair during an Aiken event in Hawaii in 2005.

The same Appeals Court ruling, however, said a lower court was correct to dismiss numerous other claims the woman filed against Aiken, his mother, a friend of Aiken family, and companies and others connected to him.

These include libel claims against Aiken mother for publicly disavowing Holleman book, …Out of the Blue: ‹Clay It Forward.

TNA News: Former American Idol contestant Diana DeGarmo hints at TNA appearance

Yesterday on the Howard Stern radio show
, former American Idol season three contestant Diana DeGarmo was asked about potential involvement with TNA.

DeGarmo hinted that she would be involved with the company in the future, but she couldn’t reveal her role, as it’s “a secret.”

Kurt Angle was also on the set of Stern’s show for his interview segment, then at the end of Angle’s interview, DeGarmo said her role would probably involve singing for TNA.

Both Simon Cowell and Terri Seymour camps have been referring to their recent split as amicable, and well, how could it not be (at least for Seymour) when a $9 million goodbye gift is involved?

Cowell is said to have given Seymour, who he dated for six years, $5 million cash and another $4.6 to buy a Beverly Hills home just before calling it quits, reports Life & Style.

Kyle Ensley Still Wants to be Governor

There’s no better time to get an update on Kyle Ensley, last year’s AI auditioner with gubernatorial aspirations, than election day 2008! The Oklahoma State University senior was interviewed by The Norman Transcript, and he says he still has lofty career goals:

“I have this (Thomas R. Pickering Foreign Affairs) fellowship through the Department of State, ” Ensley said. “It pays for grad school and it also guarantees a four-year job in the Department of State working as a foreign service officer. After grad school I will be working in an embassy somewhere as a diplomat.”

Julianne Hough: “You Don’t Have to Ignore Pain”

Julianne Hough would love to just get up and dance. Alas, she still has a bit of recovering to do, from a condition that she says was much more serious than anyone previously thought.

The two-time Dancing With the Stars winner, who underwent surgery last week for appendicitis and complications from endometriosis, tells E! News that she hopes her experience sends a message to women who might be too nervous or embarrassed to seek help if they feel something might be wrong with them.

ET was backstage at Monday night’s “Dancing With The Stars, ” where dancing pro Derek Hough tells ET about sister Julianne Hough’s health update, and the celeb dancers talk about next week’s competition!

“She’s getting better, ” Derek says about Julianne’s recovery from surgery. “The first couple of days after surgery were a nightmare. She was in a lot of pain, but she’s a fighter. She’s up and about.”

Julianne’s partner Cody Linley also tells ET that Julianne’s been voting for him from home!
