Is a teen “Idol” star suddenly too skinny?

Rest easy, America. Lauren Alaina, the 16-year-old “American Idol” runner-up, has lost 25 pounds. In an interview this week with Us, the country crooner — whose debut album is perched just below “Idol” castmate Scotty McCreery’s on the Billboard top-10 — talks about “changing my diet” and learning “correct portion control” to achieve her newly slimmed-down physique. Whew, now she can be a real star.

Naturally, the online and print tabloids have eagerly celebrated her triumph — noting how weight loss success “does a body good” and marveling that “her figure is looking fabulous.” Reminder: This is copy written by adults — about a 16-year-old-girl. Suddenly I’ve lost my appetite.

Wisconsin Vision, Danny Gokey help underprivileged kids in Milwaukee see clearer

Dozens of kids at a Milwaukee elementary school are going to see things a lot clearer thanks to Wisconsin Vision and its program to provide free eyeglasses to underprivileged children.

Close to 50 kids at Gwen T. Jackson School on the city’s north side had their vision tested Wednesday. If there was an issue, they were fitted for new eyeglasses to take home the same day.

American Idol’s Danny Gokey of Milwaukee was on hand to help the students get used to their new looks.

“I know first hand, how difficult it is to learn and how difficult it is to just operate in life without glasses,” said Gokey.

Kelly Clarkson Thinks Coldplay Competition Is ‘Healthy’

“My album came out this week, Coldplay came out at the same time, and people were like, ‘Oh my God, are you kidding? Coldplay is going to kill you!’ I don’t care if they kill me,” Clarkson said of the rock band, whose Mylo Xyloto topped the charts with 447,000 copies sold. “It’s more like, how many people are going to buy their album, and then my album is right there, ’cause it’s out too,” she said. “I always think competition is healthy.”

Clarkson, who told us she thinks Stronger is her “best album” to date, is now prepping the second single off the LP, “What Doesn’t Kill You (Stronger).” “I think we might be going with ‘Stronger,’ the title track.” Clarkson revealed. “It’s just a great song, so I think we might go with that one.”

Simon Cowell And Nicole Scherzinger In X Factor Feud

Cowell, a well-placed source tells us, has been intervening in Nicole’s team all week in the lead-up to tonight’s show which is the first episode where the viewing public votes.

“Simon said last week he didn’t like Stacy Frances’ song and called her a ‘church singer’ – which Nicole took as a huge insult,” the source says. “It actually wasn’t. It was about Nicole picking the wrong style song for Stacy. This week Simon started appearing at Nicole’s acts during rehearsals. He thinks it’s hilarious that Nicole got so mad with him last week and loves the fact Nicole’s acts seek his approval. This week he’s even taking credit for choosing Stacy’s song”

Tora Woloshin

She says she was hoping to showcase her vocal ability even further with a rendition of “Hotel California” at judge Simon Cowell’s house; one final performance to wow him before he selected his final four (which ended up being five) contestants for the live round of shows. She told the camera crews she was nervous about forgetting the lyrics, becoming visibly shaken during a taped interview.

The editors, however, only showed one of her two performances; a rendition of The Rolling Stone’s “I Can’t Get No Satisfaction.” “They made me look like an idiot, like I couldn’t remember the lyrics to a ten-word song,” she says. “That was a dick move. [For ‘Hotel California’] I had a mic stand, I had a lot of emotion, and I sang it spot-on. I definitely know for a fact that they did not show that song because they knew I was going to be eliminated. Obviously they’re not going to show the better performance because the audience would have been more pissed off than they already are [at my elimination].”

Glee’s Mike O’Malley on His Fictional Run for Office, Fixing Cars, and Political Mix Tapes

After spending Glee’s first two seasons melting the hearts of viewers who only knew him as a host of Nickelodeon’s Guts and star of Yes, Dear, it seemed like Mike O’Malley was destined to take a more backseat role this season — until last night’s episode, when he announced he’d be running as a write-in congressional candidate against Sue Sylvester. In real life, O’Malley prefers coaching his three kids’ sports teams (he was on the way home from son Seamus’s soccer game as we spoke) to political grandstanding, and fills in his time between Glee tapings as a consulting producer and writer for Shameless. He still gamely chatted with Vulture about Burt’s upcoming season, and even offered us a political mix tape.
