Paula Abdul Feels Vindicated Now Regarding Her Ouster From ‘American Idol’ (VIDEO)

‘American Idol’ has continued slipping in the ratings, and now its undergoing a near complete judging overhaul this season. ‘Whatever With Alexis and Jennifer’ (Weekdays, Syndicated) had Paula Abdul on their show, the first judge let go that kind of started this cannonball rolling.

When asked if she felt somewhat vindicated now, Abdul admitted, “Yeah, I do.”

“The thing is that people think it’s very simple and easy to fill spots that have become warm and endearing to people, ” Abdul explained. “I was there for the contestants. I really was. When you stick in the business and you stick to it and you hang in there and you ride the wave, people will vehemently oppose you … But you hang in long enough and it all kind of washes itself out.”

AUDIO: Michael Bolton Used To Babysit Paula Abdul – And She’s Not Happy About It!

“He never paid attention to me because he was too busy jamming and aspiring to be a great singer song writer and hanging out with other musicians in our neighborhood, ” Abdul said of Bolton’s prowess as a babysitter.

“I’ll just put it this way… we did not get along very well… I was seven, ” she said. “We had an L-shaped couch, and every time he would go out of the room, I would run on my knees to lock the door and I ran over a sharp pencil that was stuck between the cushions.

“Let’s just that I still have a scar because Michael Bolton was not a good babysitter, ” Abdul said, adding that much later in life, they reunited with no hard feelings, and Bolton even asked if Abdul could choreograph his tour.

  1. Very nice photo gallery from Danny’s concert at Prospector’s club outside Philadelphia recently.

    http://kennpix.smugmug.com/Prospectors-Concerts/Danny-Gokey-in-concert/

The photographer “Cowboy Kenn” is someone who frequently takes photo sets for country artists at that club. After the show, he came out in the lobby and talked to some concertgoers who were standing near me. He told them that they were lucky to have attended such a “kickass” show, and that he thought it was among the top 10 or so live shows he’d ever seen in that club. Very nice, as a lot of name country acts have been through that club even just in the past year or so.

  2. I was out looking for info on America’s Got Talent Tour. Back when they announced the tour many, many groups/artists were canceling shows etc. I came across this article. MJ if this is a repeat, my apologies, please delete this post.

Grimm chose “America’s Got Talent” over other talent competition shows because he said it was the only one that allows contestants to do their own thing.

“On ‘American Idol’ you have to do what they want,” Grimm said. “I know me and I know the music I like to do, so I thought this was the right show to build up my fan base.”

    http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2010-10-15/entertainment/ct-ott-1015-americas-got-talent-20101015_1_performers-show-troupe

With my tendency to enjoy dark humor.. I found this quote especially humorous.

I still haven’t found much on how the tour is doing. I guess it is pretty much off the radar?

  3. People are going to be ticked off if Lee’s video shoot shuts down part of the freeway. L.A. drivers don’t like stuff like that. The band that pulled some stunt on one of the freeways a couple of weeks ago and caused a huge traffic jam was roasted in the local media, So hopefully Lee’s shoot is just near the freeway and doesn’t screw up traffic.

Aside from that, hopefully he has a good time shooting it & the video turns out cool!

  4. I need a picture of Crystal dressed as Snoopy. I must have that immediately. LOL

  5. girlygirl… interesting. Those 2 freeways don’t technically intersect and only the 10 crosses Alameda street. I wonder if it is a location in that area. Union station is right there at Alameda and 10. Hmmmmm

  6. koshka, yeah, let’s hope they’re at Union Station. Any LA freeway at any time between 6-10am is a frickin’ nightmare. Why don’t they just film in a parking lot, if a parking lot is what they want? ;)

  7. In looking on HFA, Kris has some songs listed that I don’t think have been seen before. Lindy, Kris & Toby Gad were some writing machines.

BLINDFOLDED – LINDY ROBBINS, KRIS ALLEN, TOBY GAD
I PROVIDE – TOBY GAD, KRIS ALLEN, DAVID QUINONES
IF THESE WALLS COULD SPEAK – TOBY GAD, KRIS ALLEN, LINDY ROBBINS
RELEASED – TOBY GAD, KRIS ALLEN, LINDY ROBBINS
LOST WITHOUT YOU – KRIS ALLEN, DANIEL DODD WILSON, GARY MICHAEL LOURIS
TOUCH – GARY MICHAEL LOURIS, DANIEL DODD WILSON, KRIS ALLEN

  8. wjmtv – LOL isn’t THAT the truth! People would be armed with pitchforks if you close a freeway down. We’d have a whole new “LA Riot”.

  9. Thanks for that link to Cowboy Kenn’s photo gallery of Danny’s Prospecter’s show…there are some great shots of him in action which with the way he moves on stage is not an easy thing to catch!

And whoa…210 pictures! Seems Cowboy Kenn was a little camera happy…lol! But then he did have a “kick-ass” show to shoot too;)

  10. Paula Abdul Feels Vindicated Now Regarding Her Ouster From ‘American Idol’

Negativo’s idea for the next reality show:

    JUDGING IDOL

    Storyline:
On this show, singers will perform before panels of aspiring judges, who will themselves be competing for votes from America. These judges will then be judged on their judging performances by Idol producers, who are looking for the “Next Great American Idol Judging Panel”.

    Rules:
Casting will be done with the same format as American Idol, with cattle calls of thousands that get narrowed down until they reach a number that are ready to face the Producers Panel to see if they have what it takes to make it to Hollywood Week.

Hollywood Week will weed out the Top 30 judges, who will then advance to the live shows as finalists. Once in the finals, America will vote on their live performances, and each week the judge with the fewest number of votes will be eliminated from the competition until America has selected the three judges who will form the Winning Panel.

    Winners Prize:
The Winners of Judging Idol will each receive a $1 million dollar contract to be the official judges for the upcoming season of American Idol.

Anyway, THAT would be a show that I would watch.

  11. koshka:
girlygirl… interesting. Those 2 freeways don’t technically intersect and only the 10 crosses Alameda street. I wonder if it is a location in that area. Union station is right there at Alameda and 10. Hmmmmm

Koshka, it is quite possible they are using the 3 locations by the way it is written here and elsewhere – 110, 10, and Alameda St. The 110 crosses the 10 downtown and I’ve been bottlenecked there MANY times trying to get onto the 10 from the 110.

Weather is ok this morning, but we’re supposed to have rain tomorrow morning. Good luck to them.

  12. X Factor 2010: Halloween songlist revealed

How can anybody off of this show ever be taken seriously with all these novelty song themes? And I thought that some of the AI themes were strange. Halloween songs? I’m surprised that The Monster Mash isn’t on the list. And poor Wagner is just going to look even more dead inside after being made to sing “Bat Out of Hell”. Why does this show insist on torturing the bad auditioners? At least AI just tortures them once and sends them home. This show is like a cat with a mouse.

I suppose next week’s theme will be “Armistice Day Songs” (a few days early). Katie can sing the “White Cliffs of Dover”, Cher can do a rap version of “Where Have All the Flowers Gone” while random others tackle “It’s a Long Way to Piccadilly” and “Over There”. Wagner will sing “19” as a not so subtle dig at Fuller.

  13. negativa, I love your idea for a reality show where the judges are the ones auditioning. Perfect!

The by-line can be ‘Judge not, lest you be judged.’

  14. Twig.. I thought the 10 turned into the 101 right before the 110. Hmmm. Hopefully it is at more than one location. Pitchforks before Halloween is never a great idea.

  15. Oh and boy bands are still in: Tickets for Take That tour are selling really well:

It sounds like they’re doing great in the UK. In the US, not so much. They’re considered yesterday’s news.

  16. It sounds like they’re doing great in the UK. In the US, not so much. They’re considered yesterday’s news.

Or maybe tomorrows. What is out today is in tomorrow. ;)

  17. Arrrgh I just said last week that I hoped Simon bring in a different choreographer than Brian Friedman for the US X-factor. He sucks!

  18. koshka:

girlygirl… interesting. Those 2 freeways don’t technically intersect and only the 10 crosses Alameda street. I wonder if it is a location in that area. Union station is right there at Alameda and 10. Hmmmmm

The 10 and 110 intersect right at Staples center, a very congested area 24/7. I doubt they are using the actual freeway. I’d say they are definitely using downtown LA though.

  19. Or maybe tomorrows. What is out today is in tomorrow.

JLS couldn’t do anything here a few months ago, even though Jive got Z100 and a couple of other big stations to play their song.

  20. koshka:

Or maybe tomorrows. What is out today is in tomorrow. ;)

Amen. Bieber, Willow and that kid who was on Ellen are giving me serious flashbacks to the days of Donny Osmond & the DeFranco Family. NOT pleasant. I hate kid singers. They’re cute for two minutes and then I’m bored, because they have no idea what they’re singing about. Except Michael Jackson. He was awesome.

  21. JLS couldn’t do anything here a few months ago, even though Jive got Z100 and a couple of other big stations to play their song.

Jive seems to be bringing back the boybands. They just added a group called One Call to their lineup with ex. Menudo members.

  22. Jive seems bringing back the boybands. The just added a group called One Call to their lineup with ex. Menudo members.

Menudo creepy flashback ;) Im not a big fan of boy bands, but the teens/tweens might enjoy them.

  23. Interesting lists of other existing co-written songs – for Kris and for Lee!

  24. Casey James was visiting his grandpa because he is very sick. If you are a praying person, you might want to throw one out for the James family. Sad times.

Negativo, I love your judging the judges idea! I would prefer the judge contestants be “celebraties”. Somehow the idea of them being judged by the “unwashed masses” is appealing to me!

  25. That would be fun to watch, Negativo!

Our WGWG’s sure are talented songwriters…Pleae note: WGWG could also be “girl” and not just “guy” LOL!

    I hope Casey’s grandpa will be okay….

They’re cute for two minutes and then I’m bored, because they have no idea what they’re singing about. Except Michael Jackson. He was awesome.

Well considering the fact that Greyson (the kid who was on Ellen) wrote all of his songs, im guessing he has some idea of what he’s singing about.

  27. The 110 fwy is ‘my’ freeway. When I go to the beach I take the 110 to the 10. THis link shows some cool pics of the 110. http://www.scvresources.com/highways/sr_110.htm
I’m a white knuckle driver on this, particularly at my exits (the 2 worst in these pics)

Lee didn’t make the morning Sig alerts, so I guess they didn’t cause too much trouble.

  28. In looking on HFA, Kris has some songs listed that I don’t think have been seen before. Lindy, Kris & Toby Gad were some writing machine

These seem kind of interesting too (plus, lots more):

“Should’ve Kept it To Myself” – Francis Eg White, Kris Allen
“For Granted” – Kris Allen, Brian Howes, Toby Gad
“No” – Kris Allen, Toby Gad, Brian Howes
“Not Too Late To Run” – Kris Allen, Steve McMorran, David Hodges

    Which came first?
“Lifetime” – Michael Elizondo, Kris Allen, Cale Mills
“Lifetime” – Mike Elizondo, Jon Foreman, Kris Allen

  29. “Should’ve Kept it To Myself” – Francis Eg White, Kris Allen

Eg and Kris got a lot done in less than a week.

  30. Great review from Billboard magazine for Sweet Serendipity
    http://www.billboard.biz/bbbiz/content_display/magazine/reviews/singles/e3if5ddbe1f0bbd42ec04b70305e83ed721
With “Sweet Serendipity,” “American Idol” season-nine champ Lee DeWyze delivers a debut that suits both his musical influences and vocal style. The 24-year-old Illinois native’s husky, soulful voice fits nicely into top 40 pop-rock fare, as he describes his journey and offers an uplifting message about believing in destiny. “I ain’t gonna stress/ ‘Cause the worst ain’t happened yet/Something’s watching over me/Like sweet serendipity,” DeWyze sings while rapidly working through the melody. His well-placed harmonies and lyrical tone shine throughout the song, with the bridge and climax bringing to mind John Mayer’s early material. With debut album “Live It Up” set to arrive Nov. 16, “Sweet Serendipity” is a strong indication that the musical personality DeWyze developed as a contestant on “Idol” will carry over to his recording career.—Michael Menachem

  31. According to AINow Kris is scheduled to perform the Miami Tailgate 12/5 and Lee 12/26 gametimes 1PM but these are tentative dates.

thanks, ldjfan, for posting the review! this will only help lee as he starts with all this promotional stuff. hope the other credible reviewers will also give his music a fair chance.

According to AINow Kris is scheduled to perform the Miami Tailgate 12/5 and Lee 12/26 but these are tentative dates.

thanks, tripp_ncwy! was wondering about that. was hoping we’d get to hear some of lee’s new songs at the tailgate party. guess not, lol! but at least he’ll still be busy doing promo for the single/album in dec. will watch out for that.

  33. Very nice photo gallery from Danny’s concert at Prospector’s club outside Philadelphia recently.

    http://kennpix.smugmug.com/Prospectors-Concerts/Danny-Gokey-in-concert/

Wow, those are beautiful pics. Too bad they are watermarked. It is going to take me a long time to get through all 210 of them. Even if he is wearing that favorite Marvin the Martian tshirt, they are still good

this will only help lee as he starts with all this promotional stuff. hope the other credible reviewers will also give his music a fair chance.

Billboard reviews are promo material more than an objective critical review. I think if you look back at all the prior Idol’s singles you’d see the review is always positive.
But it is fun to see anything nice written; I enjoy seeing it when it is written about my fave too :)

  34. How can anybody off of this show ever be taken seriously with all these novelty song themes?

People have been complaining for ages that the themes on Idol and Z Factor are too restrictive though.
Personally, as long as they sing well, I am happy, never mind the theme. Last week the theme was guilty pleasures, but the performances were good, I’ll take it any time.

  35. Last week the theme was guilty pleasures, but the performances were good, I’ll take it any time.

Wagner was not good. Even Katie seemed to be swallowed by the stage.

I swear, that show is the Las Vegas of singing shows. Every week, you can just imagine the producers saying, “Do you think we have enough? I know, let’s add some more bling. One can never have enough bling”.

  36. Right now in the US collaborations between solo artists is the way to go. I can’t even think of one boy or girl band that has a Top 40 hit but maybe there’s one under the radio that’ll break big.

    Who are JLS??

  37. Who are JLS??

JLS are X Factor UK season 5 (2008) runner-ups (to Alexandra Burke).
    http://www.jlsofficial.com/gb/

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JLS

Basically, they have three #1 singles in the UK, their debut album went 4x platinum in the UK and 2x platinum in Ireland. Alexandra Burke’s debut album is only 2x platinum in the UK. Simon sided with her at the end of their X Factor season and let JLS sign with Epic Records (also Sony) while he signed the winner to SyCo label. Simon just didn’t have any idea how successful this boyband will be. That’s why he put One Direction together.

  38. Kris has the MIX 105.1 Holiday Soiree already scheduled for 12/5 in Orlando 6PM. IDK.

The key word is TENTATIVE. I’m not touching that item until there are official dates.

  39. Hmm the girl in Lee’s SS video tweeted that she’s been driving a Mustang all morning. Was it someone here who actually predicted that same car would be in it? Lol

  40. And whoa…210 pictures! Seems Cowboy Kenn was a little camera happy…lol! But then he did have a “kick-ass” show to shoot too;)

Yes, even for Danny I could not go through all 210 of those this morning. Don’t ever remember seeing a concert gallery with so many photos, would have never made it to work :)
Cowboy Kenn got some great shots, though. Will have to look thru them more when I have time this weekend. I was curious when I saw that number of photos whether that was typical for his work, or he took a lot as he was so enthusiastic about the show from Danny and band.
