Jennifer Lopez Is the ‘Alpha Female’ at the Judges’ Table, Says Idol Producer

“They’re all kind, but they’re tough, ” he says. “You’ve got to look at their backgrounds and what they’ve been through. So they’re not going to be cruel. They’re not going to be like, ‘Pack your suitcase – you’re going home.’ The integrity is going to be there.”

“[Randy’s] the one who knows what he’s doing, ” he says. “But … every one of them is an alpha.”

“We’re going to have all different styles, ” he says. “No one is going to be allowed to hide behind their guitar. A little more variety – a little more polish before they get to the American public.”

OK! Interview: Kris Allen Is Honored by Little Kids Rock (Part Two)

You recently posted on Twitter a picture of “Creation Station” where you will be working on new songs. Anything come out of there yet?
Yeah, we’ve got some stuff we’re pretty excited about. You never know what’s going to happen. It’s the really early stage of stuff, but it’s nice to have some complete songs and I’m really happy about them. People may hear them, we’ve recorded demos versions of them. Maybe it will end up on the album, maybe not.

What do you want the second album to be like?
More than anything, I’m happy we’ve had the time to spend on it and work on new songs. And really talk about the ideas that everyone has for it. For me, I want to get in the studio, in the same studio, working with the same producer, working on songs that I’ve really really been a part of and really put myself into. Just putting out the best songs that are out there. I feel like I can write better stuff. I feel like I can work with people and better stuff can come out. Not that the other stuff was bad, or not great, because I feel like it is. I think as an artist, I think you need to strive to be better and better. That’s the plan.

A story today in the British newspaper The Sun claims Rob turned down an offer from the former “American Idol” judge saying, “I play according to my mood, and sometimes that can come across as very depressing in music. He is a clever guy and he created artists that he knows the public will like, that’s why I don’t think he could ever launch my music career.” However, when MTV News reached out to Robert’s management for comment, we were told there was no truth to this story. It’s just “another headline generated by the internet, ” his manager wrote in an email.

The Nice Guy Who Puts the Mean Into ‘Glee’

IT’S true: Sue Sylvester is a man.

Behind most great comedic actors, the saying goes, there is a great comedic writer. Will Ferrell has Adam McKay. Jack Lemmon had Billy Wilder. And Jane Lynch, who won an Emmy Award last month for her portrayal of Sue Sylvester, the acid-spewing, narcissism-redefining cheerleading coach on “Glee, ” has Ian Brennan.

It was the 32-year-old Mr. Brennan, for instance, who wrote the classic Sue zinger: “You think this is hard? I’m passing a gallstone as we speak. That is hard!”
