Adam Lambert Uncowed by Anger Over Sexuality

KUALA LUMPUR (Reuters) – Singer Adam Lambert said his Malaysian concert on Thursday would reflect his sexuality despite Islamist anger over his show, which has been accused of promoting “gay culture.”

Lambert said at a news conference ahead of the concert that the only thing he would omit from his show in the mainly Muslim Southeast Asian country was an onstage kiss with a fellow male performer.

“My performance will still have a lot of vibes about it, ” said Lambert, in a black jacket and pants and sporting his trademark black eyeliner.

Protests Planned For Adam Lambert’s Malaysian Concert

However, campaigners are refusing to back down and are planning to demonstrate outside the stadium where Lambert is due to play. PAS youth chief Nasrudin Hassan says, “Lambert is morally unfit. His gay lifestyle will harm our society. He is of bad, bad character and poses a danger to young Malaysians. We want the government to cancel the permit…”

Nevertheless, Hassan is adamant all the planned protests will be peaceful.

He adds, “We will use a soft approach to protest against his performance. He has admitted he is gay. We feel his lifestyle will influence and destroy the young generation. We will not use violence to stop the concert.”

Adam glams our nation tonight!

ADAM Lambert may pile on the guyliner and profess his love for OPI nail polish. Still, the 28-year-old San Diego native is no more extravagantly flamboyant than most when he decides to momentarily vacate his throne as reigning glam king of rock for those moments of normalcy.

In an interview with The Malay Mail, Adam was initially almost curt in his answers, but as he warmed up, the 15-minute phone interview extended to half an hour with Adam breezing through almost every topic raised.

His career since playing bridesmaid to Kris Allen in the eighth season of American Idol, has been one of the most successful talent from the show’s alumni , with no signs of letting up.

‘Idol” winner Allen to join Lifehouse Friday at MGM Grand

Kris Allen said he grew up a “huge” Michael Jackson fan, also enjoying other artists’ music such as Queen and The Beatles. But he didn’t ever want to be someone he wasn’t.

“I was never like, ‘I want to be like that guy, ’ ” he said.

So the guy who beat Adam Lambert to take the Season 8 crown on “American Idol” hasn’t, to date at least, been pegged as the next-anyone.

And he’ll bring his unique sound and talents to the MGM Grand Theater stage for a Friday night concert at Foxwoods Resort Casino with alternative band Lifehouse.

Carrie Underwood’s solo act defies the norms of country music

With no apologies to Taylor Swift, we can now crown Carrie Underwood the reigning queen of country music.

She can also claim the title of the most successful “American Idol” contestant ever.

Saturday night, Underwood headlines a sold-out show at the Sprint Center. Yes, she is sold-out-arena caliber these days, and not just in places close to her Oklahoma hometown, like Kansas City. Earlier this month, she sold out the Hollywood Bowl, where more than 17, 000 fans came to see her.

Bret Michaels ‘Disappointed’ He Didn’t Get ‘American Idol’ Gig

Although we’re happy to have rocker Bret Michaels back on TV in his new VH1 reality show “Bret Michaels: Life As I Know It, ” a part of us is slightly bummed that he won’t be sitting alongside Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez on the new season of “American Idol, ” as was once rumored.

When MTV News caught up with the reality-TV star recently to talk about his new show, we asked his thoughts on almost making the final cut.

“I made it into the top five people. It came down to five people in the end, ” Michaels said. “I was disappointed. I’d love to have done it. I’m competitive, so it would have been great. On the other hand, to have J.Lo and Steven Tyler — one’s a pop icon and one’s a rock legend and both, along with Randy, are going to make such awesome TV

The Ultimate Romantic Hero: Simon Cowell?

A sarcastic Brit with a devilish smile and high wasted pants may not seem like an obvious choice for a romantic hero. But Simon Cowell topped the polls when British women were asked which celebrity they would most like to see featured in a romantic novel.

The former American Idol meanie secured 17% of the vote among women. Not only did he make it ahead of Johnny Depp and Jake Gyllenhaal, who tied with 12% each, but he also beat out Jude Law, who only took 3% of the vote. (Would any past American Idol contestants make the cut?)

Did Mark Salling Get Axed From Glee?

Our source adamantly says Mark’s absence from the show does not have anything to do with his album. Anyone notice Jayma Mays gone last night too? And no one’s making a fuss over that.

“Mark would never prioritize anything over the show, he respects the executives and his cast too much to do that, ” spills our Glee insider.

“People forget that he’s been doing music for almost a decade before Glee, ” adds our source. “He just has a target on his back because he’s the first of the cast to do a solo album.”

Louis van Amstel on Margaret Cho’s Rainbow Statement: ‘I Had a Breakdown’

It’s taking a while for ‘Dancing With the Stars’ pro Louis van Amstel to get over the anguish of his and celeb partner Margaret Cho’s early dismissal from the top-rated ABC competition show — which was no ordinary axing, as far as he is concerned.

“I had a breakdown the next day. I called my friends, I felt horrible, ” the Amsterdam-born ballroom champ and choreographer tells PopEater.

Van Amstel has been going around explaining ever since: “That was not the story we planned to tell. That was not my message. Maybe it was Margaret’s message, but not mine. The minute it was about gay pride, I knew we were gone. I knew it. But if I would have said something then and there, I would have looked like an a******. The damage was done.”
