Idol Headlines for 10/11/11 – The Evening Edition

Lauren Alaina ready to grow with ‘Wildflower’

“I was a little girl, and it’s hard to look at a little girl and say no, ” says Lauren, now 16 with her first album, Wildflower, under her belt. “I had this spitfire energy about me, and I’d walk up on the stage and start prancing back and forth, and everybody would think, ‘Who is this girl?'”

Across Broadway and up a block or so, there’s the Bridgestone Arena, where Lauren began her American Idol journey. She almost cut it short before she started, after watching a Chattanooga-area singer who’d beaten her in a smaller talent contest get sent packing after singing just a few notes.

Exclusive Q&A with Kris Allen

J-14: What’s the status of your sophomore album?
Kris: Right now we have a lot of songs and we’re trying to get in to the studio as soon as possible. There’s no time lines for anything right now. I wish I could say a single’s coming out next week or today, I wish I could say that. I can’t but the stuff is good. It feels really good, I’m really excited about it and I want people to hear it. It’ll get out whenever is the right time, you know? We’re going to try and get on the road but we don’t want to get on the road unless there’s new music so. We’re going to hopefully put out a single this year and then get on the road.

J-14: Some new songs of yours leaked on to the web recently. Do you want to confirm or deny if they’re new songs or old songs?
Kris: There were three songs that were leaked. One of them, I think the first one was a song that is possibly a contender for the album. And then the two others were songs that were from the last record. I wrote “Love Too Much, ” with Kevin Rudolf and the other one, to be honest, I didn’t remember writing the song which shows you how long ago it was.

Carrie Underwood Updates Fan Club members – CMA Promos and Lauren Alaina

Carrie blogged at her fan club today. She talked about shooting the CMA promo yesterday and says we should be seeing it on TV soon. She’s also got a script meeting today for the CMAs. Carrie also talked about next week being an amazing week. Apparently Friday will be a heartwarming day but she has to be cryptic about why for now. She said we’ll find out soon enough. She didn’t mention it on her blog but she’s also playing the Opry with Brad next week so I think that’ll be the 1st time Remind Me’s been performed live.

Penny will be a banana for Halloween and Ace will be a cow. I doubt they had any say in that.

Carrie also said she watched Lauren on GMA this morning and that she’s sweet, talented, and amazing. She’s honored Lauren included 1 of her songs on the album.

SIMON COWELL ON THE JUDGES’ HOME VISITS “I’VE MADE A MASSIVE MISTAKE HERE”

Simon: “First day you hear them sing, you’ve got to think about it overnight, they do two songs each. Then you wake up, you think you’ve made your decision, and then I watch the tapes back. “yeah, I made the right decision, and I changed them. You know I’ve made the right decision.” After about an hour after I put my four through, I went “I’ve made a massive mistake here”. But, regardless, I will have them fighting fit, and I want it mentally, as I said get them prepared to kill the others, and I will.”
