Whitford says “Idol” won’t stop Aerosmith

“American Idol” doesn’t mean the end of Aerosmith. Guitarist Brad Whitford swears Steven Tyler’s TV gig won’t get in the way of a new record. “We might actually get more work done because we haven’t always been so disciplined when it comes to schedules, ” says Whitford. “When Steven’s filming, it’ll only be two days a week, so it’s our intention to do some new recording on his days off.” And is Tyler on board with that plan? “Yeah, he’s excited, ” says Whitford, who thinks “Idol” could make Aerosmith even more popular

David Archuleta, Wikipedia’s Most-Edited Music Star, and Either a Tenor or Baritone

David Archuleta, American Idol runner-up in 2008, has become in 2010 the subject of a Wikipedia free-for-all, where the facts of his personal history and his career are up for grabs. On the “most edited pages” list for Wikipedia articles, his article sits at #91 – very high for an artist who’s been on the scene for two years, especially as Michael Jackson is #115, Barack Obama is #110, and Lady Gaga falls outside the top 5, 000.

Yes, young David – only 19, though soon, perhaps, even that will come up for debate – is the object of much Wikipedia speculation. While many of his entry’s edits are minor, some questions arise again and again.

His best days are now: ‘American Idol’ finalist Danny Gokey kicks off N.C. State Fair concerts

RALEIGH — Performing at state fairs throughout the United States is a big deal to country musician Danny Gokey, because as a kid, he didn’t have the opportunity to visit any.

“We had no money; we were never able to go to the state fair as a family, ” Gokey, the fifth out of six children, said in a phone interview on Sept. 10 from his tour bus; he was on the way to Vermont for a state fair performance.

The first fair he visited was the Wisconsin State Fair, as an adult, and one of his favorite things may surprise you: “All of that fried food, ” he said. “Deep fried twinkies are incredible.”

Worst TV Show of the Week – Brought to you by the Parents Television Council

Glee earned its highest ratings ever with this Britney Spears tribute, drawing 13.3 million viewers. A scary thought considering that the mostly young teen/tween audience basically witnessed an endorsement of narcotics abuse, public masturbation, and school-sanctioned burlesque. But perhaps most troubling is the deification of a troubled pop star into a symbol of empowerment and self-esteem. Considering her stints in rehab, her very public breakdowns, and her questionable parenting skills, there is absolutely no way Spears should be considered a role model. The producers of the show can spare us the old song-and-dance about fallen celebs turning their lives around. What’s next? Portraying Ike Turner as a reformed feminist?

SIMON COWELL says he’ll “do whatever it takes” to help snubbed X Factor star Gamu Nhengu stay in Scotland.

Cowell has a good relationship with Prime Minister David Cameron and is considering lobbying ministers involved in Gamu’s immigration battle.

He believes it would be “a great shame, given her talent” if UK Border Agency bureaucrats force the Zimbabwe-born 18-year-old to leave the country.

In honor of his 51st birthday on Thursday, Simon Cowell was treated to a song – by a trio of little people.

Fellow X Factor judge Cheryl Cole was the mastermind behind the serenade, reports The Sun, and the men donned gray T-shirts with the words “Happy Birthday, Love Cheryl” printed across the chest.

“Cheryl said she thought it would [be] funny for us to annoy him, ” said Phil Holden, one of the performers hired by Cole. The dwarf actors, Holden and pals Ray Griffiths and Darren Horan, performed the musical number, complete with a violin, drum and accordion, to the classic “Happy Birthday” tune as he arrived for a studio rehearsal in London.
