“American Idol” judges visited Portland for the first time over the weekend as contestants performed in front of the famed panel that includes megastars Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler.

Portland-area singers had their eyes on the coveted golden ticket to Hollywood – the ultimate prize of “American Idol”auditions.

Julianne Hough returns to ‘Dancing With the Stars’

For one night only: Julianne Hough will cut loose on Dancing With the Stars next Tuesday, an appearance timed to the Oct. 14 opening of her new film — the remake of the ’80s classic Footloose.

Her beau, Ryan Seacrest, hinted that the show’s two-time winner would be returning while doing an interview with her brother and DWTS regular Derek. But the reality show queen turned movie star has confirmed to USA TODAY that she will indeed be twirling under the glitter ball once again.

Chaz Bono: I Won’t Dance to Cher

“Dancing with the Stars” contestant Chaz Bono said his musical preferences on the dance floor won’t include songs from his mother, Cher.

“It won’t happen, ” the transgender advocate told “Extra” correspondent Adrianna Costa. “It’s just not want I’m into!”

Down 12 pounds and flexing some newfound muscles, Bono is still on the mend from a knee injury. “I’m probably 75 per cent, which is a big improvement from last week.”

The Media Research Center’s Transgender Freakout

The right-wing Media Research Center has amply demonstrated its anti-gay agenda, objecting to any depiction of gays in the media if they aren’t denigrated in the process. If there’s anything that would skeeve out the MRC more than gays, it would be transgendered people.

And so, right on cue, the presence of Chaz Bono — formerly Chastity Bono, the child of Sonny and Cher — as a contestant on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars has sent the MRC into full freakout mode.

Harry Shum Jr. Finds His Voice on ‘Glee’

The show is known to play into stereotypes and then challenge them. With Mike and Tina’s storyline there’s been a lot of stereotypes, will we see them explored in upcoming episodes?

I think the show does play into stereotypes, but I think in this episode it’s a comment on an issue that’s big in high schools. The running joke is Mike gets an A minus, and in Asian American culture that’s bad, that’s called the Asian F. That joke is there, but the underlining of that is more than a joke. He’s always gotten good grades and that A minus is why his parents come into play because it’s unacceptable to them. It bring up issues of, “Why are you getting this A minus, are you doing all these other things that distract you.” It puts Mike in a place between the things he loves and his parents expectations.
