“Shhh! Shhh!” he pleads with the barking pup, to no avail. “Sorry, he’s not supposed to be in here. He must have seen something outside.”

Soon, the Idol’s mom, Lupe, comes into the room to apprehend the dog, and things quiet down.

Ask Ausiello: Glee Spoilers

Question: Let’s assume Chord Overstreet’s Sam is not a love interest for Glee’s Kurt, and Darren Criss is. Well, who will Sam be paired with? —Jeff
Ausiello: I’m hearing single mom Quinn. But if you’ve got a better idea, the comments section below has your name written all over it, Jeff.

Question: Is Mike Chang going to get a solo on Glee? I’m swooning over his dancing (and now his abs!), but a solo would just be the icing on the cake. —Kraig

Why I Loathe Glee

The more it focuses on the music and less on the characters, the higher the ratings climb. Why, I ask as I tear my hair out, is the show so beloved?

Perhaps the answer is as simple as why people loved American Idol so much for so many years. The songs on Glee are not original; they’re culled from a huge catalogue of singer-songwriters, rock bands, and alternative types, but what they have in common is that they’re all part of the pop-culture lexicon already. These are songs that people know the lyrics to, after all. By redoing them within the context of Glee, Fox and its sister studio, 20th Century Fox Television, have created a cottage industry of mass-produced knockoffs, easy to consume and cheap to buy. (It might also be why Idol is so successful, but the original songs for the finalists fall flat every time.)

‘American Idol’: Cloris Leachman calls Jennifer Lopez ‘boring’

The new “American Idol” judges are just settling in, and one should already be taking cover.

“Jennifer Lopez is boring, ” Cloris Leachman tells Zap2it.

Leachman, never known for being circumspect, recalls that she was interested in being on Idol, but not as Simon Cowell’s replacement where her searing honesty would have been at home. What she really wanted was to be up on that stage.
