‘Majors & Minors’ Creator Evan Bogart on Working with Adam Lambert, Finding the Future Justin Bieber (Q&A)
THR: You mentioned Adam Lambert, what are his strongest attributes when it comes to participating in a show like Majors and Minors?
Bogart: First of all, he’s an incredible singer. His range is ridiculous. But he really wanted to work with the kids on stage presence and delivering the right performance. Even when you’re not the person singing, what you’re doing, how you’re interacting with other people on stage, how you’re being a part of it when you’re not the center of attention. And then when you are the center of attention, how you grab that, run with it, and then pass it off. Because a lot of the performances are done as an ensemble. So, Adam worked with them individually on their movements and their presence. It was something he specifically said he wanted to do.
THR: What can you tell us about his new music?
Bogart: He’s really taken the reigns on this record. I haven’t heard all the songs, but what I did hear, they’re very Adam. They’re deep and true. He was saying that he didn’t want anything to be about “rebel this and that.” Like on the first record, it was very much a let-your-flag-show kind of thing. This one is more specific to what’s going on in his life and his relationships. I think he’s making a very personal record, and he’s kind of in control of it. I think he changed management, because he’s definitely leading the charge on this record.

Jennifer Hudson: Glad The X Factor Held Chicago Auditions
Chicago – Simon Cowell made sure Chicago was one of the audition cities for The X Factor because he felt there was unfinished business here from the American Idol days.

Kelly Clarkson: I can’t compete with Lennon
The 29-year-old singer says comparisons shouldn’t be drawn between songs in the charts today and those created by legends such as The Beatles or Bob Dylan.
‘ mean maybe, ‘ she replied when asked if there’s too much pressure on artists to produce good music nowadays. ‘But I’m not one of those… I’m making pop music, and I mean, we’re not writing Imagine by John Lennon here…
‘What I’m saying is, I’m not trying to be Bob Dylan. My goal is to make ‘ and the music I like ‘ is fun, mainstream music. That’s what I’m meant to do.’

‘X Factor’ Judge Paula Abdul on Simon Cowell: ‘I Get a Kick Out of Seeing Him Happy’ (Q&A)
The Hollywood Reporter: You left American Idol amid some controversy involving your salary. If everything including the money was the same, would you have stayed with Idol or still made the switch to X Factor?
Paula Abdul: I would say X Factor because I think change is always good. I’ve never had one job for nine years, and for someone like me, who’s been a director, choreographer and then a performer, I’ve had multiple reinventions when it comes to career paths. It makes sense to try something different, but it doesn’t take away from the love that I had with Idol.

Interview: Glee’s Chris Colfer and Lea Michele
Glee has a large ensemble cast but there’s no doubt who the big stars are – of the kids, anyway. Standing out from the rest of the class are Lea Michele, who plays prodigious, uptight diva Rachel Berry; and Chris Colfer, aka waspish soprano Kurt Hummel.
“Is this our last season?!” Michele exclaims, doing comedy theatrical shock. “Who said that? Let’s fail! Let’s do really bad in school!”
