New Sing-Off Judge Sara Bareilles Returns to Her A Cappella Roots: “It Was a Really Good Fit”

“We would choreograph dances at parties instead of doing keg stands. We were all so nerdy together, ” she tells of her college years spent in the UCLA a cappella group Awaken A Cappella.

CHAZ BONO Gets Protection From “Crazies”

ABC believes there are “crazies” out there who have a thing against Chaz Bono … and network execs have taken precautions by ordering security for Chaz both on and off the dance floor.

Sources connected with the show tell TMZ … there have not been any specific threats against Chaz, but the honchos know there’s an element of hatred out there and they feel it’s necessary to block Chaz from harm.

As a result, we’re told Chaz will get security while he’s on the CBS Television City lot — where the show is filmed — and off the premises as well.

‘The Sing-Off’s’ Ben Folds: ‘This Is the Season of Innovation’

“I think this is the season of innovation, ” returning judge Ben Folds says on a recent press call. “I think that’s what marks this season and my theory is because these groups watched this television show and they thought what can I do to stand out? And so we have a lot of standout groups.”

The contestants include a German polka group, an industrial noise group, an all-female group (which is a challenge when it comes to the bass sounds), and a family group with its youngest member being 13-years-old.

I sort of expected there to be a reaction, but nothing this big. Chill out.”
