It’s official, say Aerosmith band members. Steven Tyler is signed, sealed and delivered to be an “American Idol” judge. Fox hasn’t made any announcement yet, but expect one very soon — taping “Idol” auditions with the judges usually starts in early September.

When Enquirer writer/copyeditor Paul Clark talked to Aerosmith lead guitarist Joe Perry for a story to run Monday about the band’s Riverbend concert next Thursday, Perry said: “He told me just a couple of days ago he signed his papers to join the show. As far as he knew, everything’s set to go.”

Crystal Bowersox’s big Toledo return and beyond

Sunday night marks the triumphant return of Crystal Bowersox. It’s been four months since the American Idol finale, in which she finished runner-up to Lee DeWyze.

Since then the pair, along with eight other top Idol finalists, have been on a nationwide American Idol Live! tour. The opening date was July 1 in Detroit, practically in Crystal’s back yard. Curiously, though, there were more Lee fans in attendance than for her. A merch guy even told me that night Lee was selling more T-shirts than any of the other Idols and that it wasn’t even close.

Wolf wranglers and Emmy’s other unsung heroes

Try pulling off the nation’s largest talent competition without a choreographer.

“You’d have a bunch of kids going on-stage doing nothing, all looking at different cameras, ” chuckles Florez, who, with partner Durell, makes sure the top 24 know exactly where to walk, when to turn and at which camera to flash a smile.

The biggest challenge? Season 9 winner Lee DeWyze. “He has this swagger, so we would always have to have someone else push him from behind or grab his hand and pull him out, ” Florez says.

On the set as ‘Glee’ begins its second season

It’s 10 a.m. on a Wednesday in the middle of a cavernous soundstage at Paramount Studios, and while the world outside is bathed in sun, everything inside is dark — everything, that is, except for the warren of classrooms and offices that make up the set of Fox’s “Glee.”

A dozen cameramen, grips and assistants are squeezed into Principal Figgins’ tiny office as four of the cast’s regulars try out their lines. They’re rusty at first, as you might imagine given that today is their first day back from summer hiatus.

Two of the main characters are having an argument.
